I hear ya. But I'm still marking you down as "In".I'm likely out this year. We're in the middle of a leadership change at 911 in addition to all my summer tower site work. I just don't know if I'm going to get my engine torn apart and back together any time soon. I'm going to have to schedule some time off just to have time to work on it.

I got my 40 running again. I've got a bit more work to do on the timing. (I ran out of adjustment at ~16 BTDC and need to rotate one tooth) I think I'm going to try to put some LED taillights on because I'm tired of fixing the OE lights after every trip. I'm really excited to see @REZARF and @bagochips76 at this event!
As pure usual, I have a pile of portable radios with HAM and GMRS frequencies programmed that I can bring along for anyone who is lacking a radio.

Drew, it will fire and start while key is activating the starter? does it die as soon as the key is in run mode?
or how soon does it quit running after the key is back in run versus start?
Yes, that sounds about right. I think I need to double check all my connections. It seems like the ignition isn't getting signal when the key is "on"
I also swapped to an FJ60 ignition and dizzy years ago and I have had a few issues with the ignitor in the past. I love the electronic ignition but it has it's quirks. Could be that I was 22 when I installed it and didn't know pos from neg wires.

being as you have power in the circuit in the start position I would,
check and see if you have power in the circuit when in run
Drew have you checked to make sure that your idle cut solenoid on your carb is getting 12v and is getting a good ground?
If I can get the carb tuned correctly, this may be the most mechanically sounds my truck has been for one of these runs. Still don't have a functional park brake, but that's asking an awful lot for a 40 to have a functional park brake.
I'd rather get it tuned adequately, but not good enough that it makes me second guess upgrading to fuel injection.

Gotta run the rear and mid harnesses, rewire my new tail lights for the proper 4 pin connector. Then a shake down run or two.
