22’s, yuck!

If women in Texas are wearing that it’s only the city dwelling socialite types lol.

I will never understand 22” wheels. There are several “features” of the Luxuy & Luxury+ that are bugs not features to me. 22” wheels, pano roof, leather instead of NuLuxe. I don’t even think I’d keep the 20” wheels on the Premium trims. Whoever made this decision doesn’t spend much time driving around Denver.

Agreed, which states have roads good enough for 22" wheels? Definitely not where I live.

My feeling is that the GX550 will NEVER exceed LX600 in anything. So, everything on GX will be equivalent or less than LX. Otherwise, why would anyone buy LX?
That was the direction in the last generation. I'm not sure it'll hold for this one. Possibly Toyota has accepted that it needs to have other models more focused on certain segments vs one model trying to do everything? The TX is bigger and probably a better highway people mover. LX went more street first and the off-road second based on the low ground clearance and standard base suspension not having eKDSS or AHC. The GX appears like it would have more suspension travel and articulation than any LX more ground clearance than the base model LX. I can't find any info on suspension travel on the LX. The LC300 claims 28.1" of articulation cross corner with eKDSS (that's super impressive IMO) and I assume the GX will have the same. Not sure if the larger tires and ride height will set it higher than the max height AHC - I'd guess not, but hard to know. The LX focus on luxury is probably it's big selling point now. Especially in the higher trims it has a lot of unique features like air shower ducting and such. Off-road use doesn't seem to be the focus anymore, so it allows the GX to fill that role.

LX is going to be a tough sell sitting between the TX and GX. Especially if they are priced 30% less than the LX. However - it's really hard to compare from photos and spec sheets. It may be obvious when you sit in them or drive them side by side that the LX can justify the higher price range.

Edit - I just did the calc on RTI score for the LC300 assuming the 28.1 is a valid real world result. It would score 732 on a 20 degree ramp. That's nuts for a family friendly SUV. A 2 door Rubicon w/sway bar disconnected is 701, and a Bronco First Edition with sway bar disconnected is a bit less with real world tests around 650 on a 2 door. 4 Door version of both are significantly lower. This might also be what the meaning of the 734 means. I calculate 732 based on 28.1 inches. A bit of rounding error and tire flex and 734 is a very plausible real world RTI score. If so - it's damn impressive.

Anybody coming to the Overland Expo PNW event in Redmond (Bend) Oregon next week?

OK, what if I give you a sneak peak of a vehicle we will have in the Lexus booth. It will serve as a backdrop of our in-booth classes (all free) and well be hanging around chatting new model features too 😎. The GX460 and LX600 will be represented too.

All of the cool things happen 2K miles away.

I'll be up there next fall, two wheel things. Maybe I'll make a pit stop then!

The event is a single weekend fwiw. Don't plan to stop by any weekend other than that one :D

Gotcha. That was more or less a general statement in regards to being in the PNW next fall haha. I'd love to make a lot of events out west for the off-road/overland scene and even more for the off-road two-wheel toys but just getting out of Texas is half the battle lol.

For those of use that can't make it, what can you tell us about the new upcoming US Land Cruiser?

So you wonder, is there any logic to this?

International Land Cruiser Prado = VJA250
US Land Cruiser = VJA251
GX 550 = VJA252

Are we sure the Twin 6 is coming to the US LC/Prado?
VJA would mean it has the V35A-FTS engine

I know in the global press release of the GX they showed the hybrid 2.4 but I didn't see any model codes for that yet on the tech sites.

As for the model number code, its normal to have a small difference in number based on engine/model even within the same vehicle.
For example
The LX is a 310 (FJA310 = DIESEL / VJA310 = PETROL)
LC300 is a 300 ( GRJ300 - FJA300 - VJA300)

With the 200
LX570 was a URJ201
LX450 d was a VDJ201

LC200 with the 5.7 was a URJ200
LC200 with the 4.6 was a URJ202
and of course you had GRJ200 & VDJ200 and earlier in the lifecycle a UZJ200 (*up to 2011).
