Current new rumor is prado.
Kind of makes sense, kind of doesn’t.

Personally think the 300 still wont sell in USA and itd be a mistake to bring it back.
Biggest reason being the sequoia. Its pretty good for what the typical person was buying the LC 200 for.

I agree with this assessment. Sadly, but I agree.

Isn’t the Prado the 4Runner and Lexus GX? Maybe, effectively, an “LC Prado” trim 4Runner? Who knows…but TLC sales in the US aren’t at the numbers Toyota needs…the FJC didn’t rectify that.

Maybe Toyota is gaming a way to leverage the LC name to get the US market “back in”, allowing it to re-grow the line here with renewed interest.

Exactly. Just bringing the badge back is exactly what i see their “angle” being.
While also not having to axe the 4R nameplate to do it.

We know the TNAG whatever platform is more modular now, and everything other than the magic wheelbase 300 is growing larger.

How they pull this off will be fun to watch. Disregarding the GX, which may break some hearts here depending how luxury it will be leaning, the T lineup is wild.

Rav 4 trd, FJ?, T4R, highlander, lc prado, grand highlander, sequoia…
Its getting bloated.

Ugh 😣 I’m still holding out a sliver of hope that we get a 300 Series variant that’s not in LX form. I really wish Toyota would have just given North America a complete Land Cruiser line up and never bothered with things like the Sequoia and Highlander.

I don’t see a Prado coming when the GX is the Prado and the 4Runner is the same platform, they wouldn’t offer the same vehicle with different names nor would they cannibalize their 4Runner sales. Maybe they drop the 4Runner nameplate in favor of the global Prado but that seems far fetched when 95% of Americans don’t know that nameplate nor it as a substitute for the household name that is the 4Runner.

It’ll be interesting to see where this goes. That said, I don’t see the 300 coming here either when orders are 2-4 years out in Japan. I hope to be pleasantly surprised in the end.

Think about that first sentence. That’s exactly what they did in the 200 that killed offthe LC!
Thats why im saying im afraid the GX will be sacrificed in ruggedness to introduce the prado, in a slightly larger form than the 4 runner and with LC badge and pricing.

otherwise i cant make sense of it.

Edit: the lx 600 went the same way, more ”luxury”.

They have to find a way to position things and not repeat the 200 LC/LX mistake.

Only other scenario i see is the real LC 300 and bigger 4R.
Youre right that the 4R brand cant be tossed aside, its wildly popular.

GX550 will come with more true offroad trim lifted and 33s as a package

Also Lexus will be selling bolt on lifts as accessories.

Oh yeah, talk dirty to me.

With that horrific snout grill I wonder if we’ll finally get an angry snout package to compete with wrangler angry eyes. I’m doubtful though, Toyota doesn’t seem to take us very seriously.

Another slap in the face.

There is a lot of merit in merging the 4R brand with an added LC trim line. Why use a GR trim when you can put the legendary LC trim line name.

Sort of like 2024 Toyota 4Runner LandCruiser trim. My reading is the LC trim could get the turbo 3.4L Sequoia engine and the lower trims can get the turbo 2.5L 4 cyl.

That will be a win-win deal for everyone.

gx550 prado landcruiser.....

Like I said earlier, I’ll believe it when I see it. I hope to be proven wrong and pleasantly surprised.

Toyota seems to be ok with having multiple vehicles serving a similar segment. Highlander/Venza, Grand Highlander/Sequoia, Rav4/CH-R/Corolla-Cross.

The 4Runner DNA goes back over 40 years and has diehard fans. I can't see them ditching the nameplate. Then again... Land Cruiser.

The Grand Highlander and Sequoia might be similar in size but they vary drastically in design and execution. The GH is a unibody large crossover and the Sequoia is a body on frame truck style large suv, very different in handling, ride characteristics, towing capability and likely fuel economy.

I just can’t see a 4Runner, GX and a Prado all sharing the exact same frame, dimensions, drivetrain, etc, with only design features separating them and then two of which that would be sold on the same lots, it makes absolutely no sense. Even if the 4Runner were only sold as a 2WD or a more simple stripped down suv and the Land Cruiser name plate or Prado as a full-on off-road oriented suv it makes little sense to have both when you could sell different versions of one like they’ve done with the 4Runner since the beginning of the 5th Gen which is now 14 year models old.

I really don’t care what they do, but I just can’t see it happening in that capacity, but I am fully willing and accepting of being totally wrong here. Only time will tell and I doubt we know $hit until February or March of next year at best.

Toyota can’t even keep up with current supply shortage of current models. How are they going to introduce an all new model that someone can actually buy when released. They could bring 300 to the U.S and nobody would get one for at least 3yrs as they have a long waitlist in Australia and the Middle East. According to this link below with a quote from Toyota to Aussie clients, its up to a 4yr waitlist. Not sure how Toyota can even release a new model anything at this point. It’s all YouTube fluff and pipe dreams until something official is released. I am extremely confident in my source that there is a product being donned LC coming back for 2024 and that it’s a smaller platform than sequoia and Bronco like in nature. We have also heard similar claims that the GX will be coming back way more off road focused to tackle some of those g wagon sales. I don’t think it’s far fetched at all these could be sister trucks. My sequoia is due to arrive this week unless the damn tracker is wrong again it’s been delayed twice already. I’ll pry some more.

As far as availability yeah I don’t think either of these vehicles will be easy to source at msrp unless the economy continues its path lower and people are hurting bad.
