What’s up w the attitude. I’m stating that there is a though fallacy for using MSRP as a starting point to compare against the LC.

The TRD Pro Tundra had a stupid markup when it was first launched. Some dealers are selling at MSRP but I’m still running into instances where ADM is still being applied at a very healthy amount.

The Bronco and Raptor are more than an image. They are very capable machines that I would argue finally motivated Toyota to do something more than release emasculated vehicles that are targeting the Starbucks Frappuccino crowd NTTIAWWT

The LC may turn out to be a great truck but I fear we’re going to have to pay $65-75K or more to find out. It’s going to be about the same price as the GX. Why? They are essentially the same vehicle. Production costs are the same. Production location is the same. Why would Toyota accept lower margins for one over the other? And why would they suddenly decide to sell the new LC for $25K less than in Europe. And why would they allow the LC to infringe on the 4Runner? Too many improbabilities lined up here. (I would love me a $55K LC, don’t get me wrong, and I would be first in line!)

As regards Car & Driver, they have the Defender at $57K. I went to two dealers yesterday, and the cars ranged from $88K to $120K. The cute little 75th Anniversary 2dr was a whopping $95K. When I asked the sales rep about the $57K models, they said they would call me if one came in. Wink, wink. I test drove the Defender and it was not my cup of tea, at all. Cheers.

The Prado is going to be 40 to 45k vehicle in pretty much all non-US markets. They can try to slap 65 to 70k on them for the US market but they are not going to sell just like the 200's

Why would you wait for a Defender, or any car for that matter, simply find one online and have it shipped to you. I think we paid 800 to ship our Armada from Iowa to VA.

I don't agree that they are capable machines, but they are used as a status symbol instead of a capable machine. I am sure I would love driving one, but unfortunately it has the cultural status connotation to me of someone with more money than sense :).

Also the TRX (or more likely the driver) can't even handle a tame dirt road without damage and getting pulled out by a 45-year old square body Chevy....

A lot to read and a lot to see lately, nice !

Standing at what I said before ... At $60k or so, Toyota will have a loyal fanboi getting one new LC Prado with me, but anything above that and I either wait for an used GX550 in two years, or go a totally different direction with a different brand.

Toyotas are special. I was away for two weeks in rental cars and yesterday when sat in our loved 200, man.... This car scream quality ! But if they overshoot the Prado here ... I am done ! 😂.

Happy weekend to y'all and next week we will see a big and nice reveal no matter what !

🫶👌🏾

I think this is the reason why they will cap the LC with 4 banger power (maybe a special edition later on down the road with a TTV6). If you want a six cylinder, Toyota will happily point you and your wallet to the GX, which also has an off road trim for “enthusiasts”. Just got to spend more, of course!

Your argument can be directed squarely back at TRD owners and the soon to be Pathfinder owners.

Not sure why you have such destain. Keep in mind these vehicle are pushing well over 70-90k and many are probably in deep debt w very long loans to buy one.

Absolutely, lots of TRD folks running around that never go off-road. I don't have disdain, but I have every right to judge someone's poor financial decisions they made under the own agency on an expensive toy they will never use - especially when it's something as flaunty and flashy as a Raptor/TRX. I personally could afford one no problem, but choose to spend my money on other things :).

If I see it on the trail the judgement is dropped and I'd like a ride in one :)

Competiton is defiantly a good thing.

The ADM thing is sorta silly at this point, we have a dealer in norther Virgina that is still trying to bang an extra 15k ADM's on Tunda TRD Pro's. Ill go and check stuff out, but at the end of the drive, I simply ask if they are matching prices for some random dealer I find in South Dekota or Maine.

Uhh yea. Go team you!

I think it’s a bit petty for you to judge someone you’ve never met about what they drive.

But hey it’s your choice of letting ppl live rent free in your head.

A GR SPORT lc300 is $76k. Is the LC 250 really going to be more expensive than the most capable LC 300?

Calling it a $65k Prado is really an oversimplification but last I checked even the current GX "Prado" starts at $60k. I think a starting price around $60k is perfectly reasonable considering all the probable upgrades over the old Prado.

2022 Prado GXR at Yella motors in Kuwait, 33k. The GX is 60k but it has leather and different 20-year-old engine.

I think starting the GX at 60K is reasonable.
I think starting the LC at 60k is absurd.

Jet. are you talking about this LC300? Where can I buy it for $76K? I am keen.

Btw it’s silly comparing these vehicles. The guys on the Raptor forum run their trucks hard on the dunes and some run them on the trails. I’m seeing more Broncos on the trails around Central Texas.

I don’t know much about the TRX as I’m not a dodge fan.

It appears the new Tacoma will fill the PreRunner gap that has been missing for a while.

End of the day, I am personally glad to see such capable machine offered by thr OEM that doesn’t require lots of trial and error that is also covered by the factory warranty.

It's more personal satisfaction in my own abilities to build and use a 16-year rig with my own hands :).

As mentioned earlier - if you are driving a TRX/Raptor you are actively looking for judgement on your financial choices (which is not the same as character or value as a human being).

By the way, I have a carbon cycle. And a titanium one. Their abilities out-class my own fitness. Perhaps I am judged too with a Ti gravel bike on top of a Lexus.

Depends on how they are going to be equipped, doesn't it? The "Lexus difference" price premium in the Land Cruiser models has not been that huge recently. It has actually flipped in the used market. What does a similarly equiped Lexus give you? A better warranty, classier service, better sound deadening, a slight upgrade in materials? I can see a premium of a few thousand dollars but not a lot more.
