I love how you included the steering stabilizer mount. Is that normal on an 80 series chassis?

Well, ya but it bolts to the crossmember we removed. So had to do something.

Cheers

Sound deadening installed on the roof.

And finished sound deadening in the cab less taping it all.

Went to install the rear sliding window in the cab but turns out we don’t have all the parts we need so will have to order those to finish this.

*Edit

I sent Rhys a rather stern email and he circled back around. We now have the chips we need in route and setup for our specs.

I am going to post a bit if a rant here, mostly because I am seeking a better contact of said company and hoping somebody can provide one.

GTurbo: My shop has spent $50k, USD by the way, on their products in the last year or two. So ya we got a little bit of expectations simply due to coin spent.

There main guy Rhys, this guy sucks badly at customer service. I have a question about one of their products and this guy ignores me. He sends me half a sentence with cost and nothing else. I ask questions about the product to clarify before purchase, thousands of dollars by the way, and this guy goes silent. You have a customer (my shop), a business none the less, who has spent a lot of cash on your products, been very easy going, no stress, no hassle and no rush. Bank wire money directly to you as well. Come back to buy more products and get a tiny bit of tech on products already purchased and this guy ignores us!!?? WTAF? This is a no go in my shop and yes it upsets me.

Really nice products GTurbo offers and sells, we love them! Their customer service though blows chunks. They should fire Rhys in my opinion cause this is BS.

So does anybody have a contact higher up the food chain at GTurbo? I have about had my fill of this Rhys guy.

Cheers
I had a similar issue with a solar company in namibia that I spent thousands with on home solar equipment. Once the main technician retired, the sales person would only send me one email a day, and wouldn’t engage via whatsapp or anything else. Was very unhelpful. While the kit was good, I sent my business elsewhere. Good kit without good customer service leaves me with issues down the road. I hope you can get things worked out with GTurbo.

I worked with Cuan and Rhys at Gturbo found both to be very helpful over the phone and a touch lackluster via email. So I found I had much better luck with calling in and chatting than doing anything over email. Also Brian @ PDI is pretty knowledgeable about the Gturbo stuff I think he was connected somehow in the past before he split off to do intercooler packages. Super nice guy. He may be able to point you in the right direction on a good contact.

I'd agree broadly, not specifically to Gturbo, but with other entities both related to LC's and my other businesses, calling usually gets much better and quicker responses than texts/emails... as much as I, like anyone, would prefer emails to be answered in a timely manner nevertheless.

So no pics but we have been waiting for some wiring harnesses for awhile now. When we got the other harnesses sent to us we didn’t get the dash harness, cab harness or rear chassis harness. We honestly didn’t know this until we went to install them. Not having them really put things on hold.

I tried to source them from the Middle East with no luck. So I went to Dave in Japan. After running a lot of part numbers he was only able to source us one particular set of harnesses. These are not exactly what we wanted but we can totally work with them vs nothing.

Well they showed up today and we went right to installing them.

Pics to come! 🤓

Cheers

So, I just bought myself a 2017 VDJ79 double cab with 117k kms on it. It’s Dubai spec, manual roll down windows and such, with the stripped down cluster gauge. Looks like the camel is of similar spec. I’m very interested in swapping out the gauge panel for the one with RPM, oil pressure, water temp, etc, as well as going to power windows. Do you know how much of a mission this would be? Is it a matter of a different wiring harness, or is it likely wired for this stuff, just the mechanicals and switches that need doing?
