I have a line on possibly buying this rig, 2017, grey/terra, it has 29K miles, black Method wheels, 315's, a Prinsu rack, OME BP-51 lift, color matched front grill, located near Seattle.... and a supercharger.... I have not driven it yet, and can't for a week or two until the guy is ready. Looks like from the VIN is was originally sold in AZ by Right Toyota.

It's not being sold by the original owner, and the communication on the supercharger/engine history has been a big cryptic and that he is "addressing some issues..."...., so I'm trying to see if I can find the original owner, history etc.... does anyone know of this truck? I can't find anything on here for a build thread either...
thanks

Hear that sound? That’s me running my butt off as fast as I can..... thanks guys!

Please heed all above and run!

Which supercharger? Which tune? Which install shop? Much to be found out in the details. But odds are the above advice is accurate.

I’ll be asking all those questions, but I feel it’ll be all for not... I don’t love the idea of a supercharger at all, but otherwise it’s the exact truck I want..

It's an opportunity for perhaps the right handy person if it can be had at a deep discount. But may be more trouble than it's worth for even a newer 2017.

It's likely they installed the supercharger without engine management which would cause the aforementioned issues. We all know the Tundra TRD and Magnuson superchargers physically fit the 5.7. It's the engine management/tune that's not been solved for the 200-series. Assuming they put next to no mileage with the supercharger, they did not make any irreversible mods, and did not make the engine worse for wear... (all big assumptions)

One could buy it with all the goodies and return it to stock. Then spend the effort to sell the pricey hardware to the Tundra population for an even deeper discount.

I've been looking at the 200 forum here for a decade, and I don't recall seeing a 200 series supercharger story that had a happy ending. There are always tuning issues, and it's simply not worth the reduced reliability. The entire appeal of a Toyota Land Cruiser is reliability, durability, and capability, and I do not think forced induction helps with much more than fun factor. A supercharger costs a ton of money, screws up the truck (from what I have read here over and over), and additionally lowers the resale value. It's probably the worst investment an owner could make, and I personally would never buy a supercharged Land Cruiser.

If you do end up with this truck or need an independent assessment go see Tor at Torfab north of Seattle. Tor is fantastic. He did my H55 swap and he did the supercharger on the Nitrogears 200, working with Carb Connection (if memory serves) on the Unichip tuning and error codes. So he has first hand experience for something like this. Tor is also active on mud.

Looks like Unichip has an application for the Land Cruiser. Perhaps even a specific map for the 2017 Land Cruiser with Magnusson S/C.

If I was local and had the time, unichip also has end user tuning software, I could definitely dial in a tune. All wishful thinking as I'm just trying to relive my tuning days when I had no kids, lots of time, etc.

Agreed, I thought that the base tune on the Unichip was worked out. @fish2live it's at least worth a call to Tor if you are still thinking about this truck (not trying to talk you into it, you shouldn't get a supercharged truck if you aren't excited about a supercharger, let alone a non sorted supercharged truck - you'd be buying a project). I think that the shop that did the Unichip tuning was CarbConnection on the east side. I've also worked with these guys some, and they are a very capable tuning and performance shop.

I have mixed feelings about a piggy back controller overall though. I'm still hoping that HPTuners unlocks the 2016+ ECU... I feel like that would open up a lot more tuning options and tuners.

Multiple big name tuners have been trying to unlock Toyota ECUs for more than 2 decades. It was really under focus when the TRD supercharger first came out on the 3.6L V6 engine. They tried in vain for years. The best anyone could ever do was piggyback. Not to be a debbie downer but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Is this the mystery supercharged LC200 that was premier at overland expo west 2019? Since the showcase at Expo West, that LC is missing and every public pic of that LC is MIA.
The Deep State took it back .... o_O

There was a guy that started a build thread with a Harrop SC. I think he was owned an auto repair shop in Colorado. I'm curious how his LC is running.

Another person on this forum said it best regarding supercharged Land Cruisers: "If I wanted a 500HP SUV with dubious reliability, I would have bought a Range Rover."
