I nominate Allen Dickenson @Fort Knox for Treasurer.

I nominate Eric Johnston @fourtrax for Uwharrie Representative.

I nominate Derek Hamaker @DeeRex for Events Coordinator.

I second Allen Dickenson @Fort Knox for Treasurer and Eric Johnston @fourtrax for Uwharrie Representative.

I gratefully accept the nomination for Treasurer.

Although it may mean I can't wear my sketchers on the trails, I second the nomination of Stacy for Event Coordinator.
If elected maybe we will have some events more fitting of your Sketchers and Slacks.. :)

I except the Nomination for Event Coordinator, thank you both.

Unfortunately you are not yet eligible to be in the running for a BOD position as you are not a member in good standing. In order to be a member in good standing, you will need to purchase an ONSC membership.

Eric is a member in good standing, but this does not cover you if you are going to run for a BOD position yourself. This precedent was set when Sarah Stabley ran for a BOD position. She purchased her own ONSC membership in order to be eligible.

When I see your membership payment come through, I will add you to the list in the first post!

So, if someone buys a family membership for their family, which includes wives and daughters and said wives and daughters are not considered members in good standing, what is the point of the family membership.

There is absolutely nothing about this in the By laws, nothing. Just because Sarah chose to purchase a membership of her own does not set how nominations ect are held.

I officially contest the decision and further contend that it is not within the powers of President to make these choices without changes being made to the By laws.

Sarah and Eric have been members of this club in a family membership for going on TEN years. Yet she is considered not to be a member in good standing?

Stan, do you think I say things just to offend you? What the heck man.

Eric Rymer is a member in good standing, yes. Back when we had family memberships the ONLY reason we had them was to help offset the cost of bringing more than just the "ONSC member" to events. The rights of the ONSC member apply only to the ONSC member, not to their entire family. We went through this during the last election cycle, then changed the membership structure so that we no longer have family memberships to help eliminate this common misconception you've articulated in your post. I've personally had discussions with Eric and Stacy about this and if I recall correctly, Eric and I were chatting about the old family membership topic this past weekend!

I think Stacy would make an excellent Events Coordinator and I'd love to have her on my board! The only reason I've said what I did is to make sure we are adhering to the bylaws, not as an attempt to prevent her from running. I can't force you to believe that, and I doubt you will, but that is the honest truth.

Let me give you an example. Stacy Rymer was the only person who came up to me at Logan's Run to complain that there weren't enough things to help out with! She wanted to lend a hand but there just wasn't enough to do, everything was already covered. This would be an excellent way to give back!

@blue98stang if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call/text/pm/email me. If you and/or Eric don't have my cell, FB message me and I'll give it to you.

Thank you.

Johnny I get all that. So now there are no more family memberships and those who were family members for years are now required to buy a separate membership.

You can take it personal all you like Johnny, I simply do not agree with this policy that is "set" yet not been changed in the by laws. You are going to do what you like in either case but I refuse to not state my OPINION. Because until there is a vote by the general membership, all of this is just opinion. Otherwise, what is the point of by laws in the first place?

Since she is covered under my lifetime membership for 99% of everything we do as a club, why can we not let her run and if elected we have no issue getting her a separate membership as well as a TLCA membership as well. Doesn't seem cost effective to do both prior to even having the position. Just a question.

What I've described is not an opinion, that's what you're not getting. This is about what defines a "member in good standing" which is spelled out in the bylaws.

I see your point about not being cost effective prior to even having the position. Unfortunately we're bound by the bylaws and only members in good standing can run.

If she purchases the membership and then is not elected, we will refund the membership fee. How does that sound? There is no expectation to have a TLCA membership to run for ONSC BOD, it's just recommended you have one if you are on the board.

Alright, thank you @erymer, Stacy is in the running!!

EDIT: To clarify, Eric gifted a membership to Stacy Rymer, so Stacy is now a member in good standing an eligible to run for the ONSC BOD.

For the record, none of this was meant to be argumentative. Mostly trying to understand the process. Although we've been involved with this club for 10 years we've not been involved with elections and such. Now that the kids are to a point which they are not so much hands on, we can put in more time to this family as well. Thanks for the PMs to clear up some questions Johnny.

See, that was not so hard was it.

You're right, it wasn't. Eric bought Stacy a ONSC membership so that she is now a member in good standing. Now she's eligible!
