I couldn't own the MB or 700-series BMW....horrific reliability.

I'm not getting into this s*** with you again. There isn't one fact or anything else that I, or anyone else can say to you to get through your thick skull that will change your mind, or even to get you to be open minded about anything non Toy/Lex. That's fine, and you are entitled to your opinions. But, in doing so you are making yourself look like a complete, closed minded imbecile .

Don't you mean a RX8 ?

Rx8? What's that? Ya, I don't have an MX5. Rx8.

By the way....I just read that the reason the new Tundra was dropped to lower then average reliability was due to "4WD issues". That freaks me as the new Cruiser has a Tundra rear axle, similar front IFS (and probably front diff) and the same T-case gear ratio (though the Tundra may not me Full-time....didn't look. Might be identical too).

I guess I'll go to the Mazda wesite to find what it is you have. Never heard of a MX8 but thrutfully, the only mazda I have ever driven was a 1993 RX7. I was fast but some trim piece fell off the inside of it during the test drive, which didn't impress me much. I ended up getting a 300ZX tt which was a great car. Reminded me of a 3/4 928s. And yes, I have had one of those as well.
;)

Well, if that freaks you out, read this:

Speaking with Automotive News at the Tokyo Motor Show, ToMoCo's global manufacturing exec admitted that problems with the automaker's full-size pickup have caused "shame" within the company.

Toyota Tundra woes "shame" automaker

OK, I'm really confused...I went to the Mazda site and found a MX5, but no MX8. :o

It's the one that will be worth less than a Honda Accord in 3 years. Ford wouldn't let Mazda make a 2dr sportscar so they were forced to add the suicide doors and back seat- no more RX7. In the best British sportscar tradition, it's a oil burner. Love how Mazda recommends oil checks every other stop for gas.

Imagine how great it could have been if Mazda were allowed to make it a true successor to the RX7. Oh well.

Woops, brain fart! I didn't read everything completely...Now i'm good. No more confusion . :o

Ppl who play at that level don't care, they have a fleet of cars to choose from

SOMETIMES true. For me, no. That last thing I want is my neighbors 2006 Z06 Vette. It's been in the shop, no lie, about 10 of the last 18 months. It's on it's 3rd engine. I want the car in my garage, not the shop. That's why I will not own a BMW, MB, Rover, etc.

I think theres another logical reason for that Vette to have alotta engines. Since it's a Vette, a powerful machine, your neighbors couldn't help but mash the skinny pedal. Maybe alil too much into redline frequently.

If your theory is true, then it shows what a POC it is then. It's a 505HP vehicle made AND MARKETED to run and run fast. It better do it and keep doing it and for a long time or it's a POC.

Umm, it doesn't matter who makes the engine. You redline it a few too many times and under the wrong conditions, you're gonna kill it. The cars aren't idiot proof (no matter how badly the car makers want them to be).

To me that's no excuse.
The Z06 and most sports cars have a fuel cutoff. That should suffice. My Mazdas including my Rx8 live(d) a redline. In fact, the Rx8's been the slickest to date.....you don't have to look at the tach. At 8500 a beeper sounds telling you to shift before 9K.
