i did the math and to me personally - the $72K price (plus tax?) was not worth because a) we're 6 in my house-hold and we beat up the vehicle inside and out - I will get some dings/scratches/spillage within a few weeks of ownership and I would feel bad about that on a brand new $$70K+ car, b) the 06 and 07's are now available at pretty good prices. I opted for a LN low-milage 06 TLC instead - I don't feel bad banging it up (at least less bad...) and price diff was almost $30,000 vs a well-equipped 2008 TLC.

I completely agree with your assumptions.

We have a 2007 GMC Yukon Denali XL for the normal family car. That car is usually a disaster. We go though the cleaning up process of that truck every week. It is just as easy to go around with the kids, and has plenty of more room for stuff, if we go shopping.

Otherwise....my LC is tons more fun :)

650nm of torque.......:eek::eek:

You said that Shotts knows something:D

I do know this:

We are not going to buy a 2008. The decision is in. While it offers many improvements over my 2001, I think the price tag for a new DD is too high considering I already have two Cruisers. We're going to pocket the money and keep using my 2001 until I fine something to replace the '97.

I have $15K in mods to my 2001. If I get an '08 for $70K plus tax and $15K I'll have $90K in it. I'm better off finding an inferior DD ride (a 100) for $35K and slapping the $15 on it.

SOMEONE ELSE LEAD THE PACK WITH THE 200-SERIES! :D

I don't count??

I am hurt

Try to be patient, I still might get one yet !! Even though I have fip-flopped on my feelings on the '08, after I drove it my opinion of it changed greatly...Am I wrong though, the price of the LC/LX have pushed them quite a bit upmarket ? We still don't have a final price for the LX yet, do we ??

:cheers:

I suspect based MSRP will be $75K ($67K on 2007) and all the goodies will push it to $80-85K.

Those numbers are about right from what I've been hearing. The LXs will come fully loaded (what else would you expect :rolleyes:) with ML, NAV, etc. so I wouldn't be shocked to hear prices in the high 80s out the door :doh:.

Ok, the base RR starts at $78K---->$86K

The RR s/c is $93K---->$96K

That is MSRP though. I am going to call the LR store and get some realistic purchase prices sometime today. We all know that there aren't going to be any discounts on the new LC or LX anytime soon !

:cheers:

You can probably get some really nice rebates and incentives from the RR store...I sincerely think Lexus has gone out of their mind on their prices! One of the main reasons why Lexus was so popular was because of the value their products represented. The new LS hybrid priced over 100k is a rolling contradiction that recently reported a gas savings of only 2MPG (today's WSJ article) over the standard. Please don't pass this on as a "green" vehicle when in reality the hybrid system is being used as instant torque on demand to move that heavy pig! With these prices, the RR, chilly pepper, X5, MB - AMG are becoming a lot more attractive IMO.

The new 600H blasts vehicles from BMW and MB that sell for even more then the 600. The hybrid is just one perk of the 600.

Well I would hope so since this is the latest and greatest kid on the block. I'm seroiusly trying to give Lexus kudos for this car, but in all reality, how many ppl from the customer base that Lexus is going after (think ppl who have a chauffeur) will honestly pick a 600 over a MB, Jag, Bentley or BMW; I'd have to say only a handful if that. It's strange but Lexus is having a problem selling cars in their own home market...Japan. I sincerely hope they pull it off, but if I was a gambling man, I'd hedge my bets against.

I couldn't own the MB or 700-series BMW....horrific reliability.

Motor Trend recently did a comparo of the 600hL and came to the conclusion of "what's the point" pretty much. The 600 was supposed to offer V12 performance, but it didn't have any performance edge over the V8 MB, Jag, or Maserati 4port. In fact, the 460L was pretty much the 600's equal, performance wise and as far as the gas savings from the hybrid, there wasn't much. I don't want to sound like a braggart but truthfully, when you get into that price category you better bring alot to the table and I really don't think Lexus can play in that rare air. Sure, Lexus builds a very good car, in the LS but it isn't going to be much of a consideration for people looking at V12 MB's, BMW'S, Audis, Jag's, and even the Bentley Flying Spur. Lexus' claim to fame initially was it was a great value compaired to the other lux brands. Sometimes being a good car just isn't enough !! And as far as the LC/LX argument goes, well, they are getting pricy, aren't they ??

Sorry, the 600HL doesn't blast anything, inclusing the much less expensive 460L. You are wrong !! And, the batteries in the trunk of the 600 severly decrease it's cargo volume.
