Your first post mentions that this is a 100 forum... Doh!

But anyway... My 2008 now has about 122k on it, and I still turn and glance back at it in the parking lot. Wife calls it my girlfriend... :hillbilly: As years roll on, I only like it more...and believe it or not...even 11.5 years old, I still get asked if it’s some NEW model LC after I wash it. People can’t believe it’s age...which is amazing considering how much it gets wheeled and wheeled HARD.

Just yesterday after hitting the car wash and the Costco next door...still found myself compelled to snap a photo. :) A little bit o psychosis perhaps...haha, I know...but here is my 2008 yesterday...which will hit 12 years since manufacture in November:

You won’t regret it...
-Even on my limited budget,..I know I don’t.

...ya need to park the "girlfriend" by herself and away from all the riff-raff! Keep her pristine! Though my 200 seems to be a magnet. There's always that person that will park on top of me even though I am in the back 40 of the parking lot and there are hundreds of other empty parking spaces.

Oh, I’m not too worried about dings. It’s just that no matter what I put it through...it still cleans up perty...

This was my 08’s look a couple weeks ago...

Come on, brother - 'fess up!

When you saw her sitting there, this is all you saw, right?

There really is something about a snorkel...

:wacky:

:wacky:

I do like the looks of snorkels, so ya, it does catch my eye anew...but I resisted a snorkel forever until Cole’s engine destruction at CM (in water I would have never considered a threat) changed my view.

But ya...a snorkel does sort of balance the look of the truck’s very “bumpy” rear of tires, jerry and other crud...compared to the relatively smooth lines of the front.

Truth is though... I was snapping photos after pressure-washing in Moab pre-snorke too. :)

It’s a sickness....AND MAY I NEVER RECOVER! :hillbilly:

Not sure if you are asking me, but no, it is not.
Ok thanks. I drive by a nice silver one in the Alamo Heights area daily and I keep hoping he puts a for sale sign on it one day. My oldest starts driving in a few weeks and I am considering moving to a 200 and either giving him the 100 or older f150. Sounds like we are in the same boat. The GX is a nice vehicle. I saw a nice one for sale a few months ago for 11K IIRC at Kens on Austin Hwy.

Lesson 1. Never tell. It'll get snagged. I'm not even in the market but could always find my way to such a great deal. I think you should definitely get it. However, don't be naive about the known, rather big expenses, to get it fully bullet proof. They will show their cards at some point, older the rig, darker the juice.

Imho....mileage isnt an issue on these. and prices of these are dropping like crazy, I just spotted an 09 for 22k. $4 a gallon gas has a way of making 80's , 100's and 200's prices plummet.

Personally i think you should buy the GX and hold out for the better gearing of the 2016's + which will be down into the $30's in a few years. 2020 should be close to model change time for
Toyota and we all know how a big jump in model will put even more downward pressure on the 200's.......eapecially if Toyota decides to slap a diesel in the 300......its curtains for 200 prices. I predict by next model - you will be able to pick up a 2016 for $28k....... food for thought,

Does anyone buy these for fuel economy? If you can drop drug dealer level pocket cash for a new one, or even the crazy used prices on all vintages, is one worrying about gas cost? Sure it sucks but...

If the OP doesn't buy it the Mercedes dealer in San Antonio will have it listed in the low $30's. Gas is much cheaper in TX plus a one owner low mileage 200 with records will be gone quickly.

Not gonna happen in the US, period.

This is as hilarious as it is wrong and misguided. Considering a clean 06-07 100 series with low miles sells for $28k, you’re going to be waiting a loooooong time for a 2016 to be $28k. I see lots of 80 and 100 guys sitting on the sidelines waiting for the 200s to become cheap, but it hasn’t happened and it likely won’t happen for a very long time if ever. No offense, but the second you mention Toyota and a diesel in the US you show you are very out of the loop with information. Won’t happen. Ever. As confirmed many times by actual real people from Toyota. Told to our faces. In person. Won’t happen.

And while you are seeing the highest craigslist asking prices.......im seeing the average low miler very clean 100 for $10-15k less.

and seeing the 08s dipping below $20k....

Personally i wasnt terribly impressed with both the 100 or earlier 200 series cruisers. While each model was an improvement over the previous series- they both brought enough downsides that even as prices were falling- most of the downsides still outweighed their current improving values.

It will be interesting to see how the 2016's+ fare. My hunch is that theres such limited sales of these that the supply demand equation will be somewhat skewed to keeping them at lofty premiums in the used market. But much of this will depend on how much of an improvement the 300 series ends up being.

My hope is to skip over both the 100 and 200 series altogether because toyota has made a significant jump in the evolutionary process. but sadly i fear we may be relegated yet again to Highlander looks and
escalade weight in the 300......fingers crossed that isnt the case.
