Congratulations to the incoming (and returning) Board Members. It is certainly folks such as yourself that keep the association going.

Kudos to those stepping down, especially Alan. Its funny how much can change in our lives during the tenure. And neither turn out the way you thought it would.

Jeff and Justin... I cannot find the words to express my admiration for each of you, and the approach you have taken with regards to this election. You both make me proud to say I'm a TLCA member.

Thanks All!

Tony,
I can only say thank you, as anything else I would say would be unable to express what that sentence means to me. You and Alan have both been influential in decisions I've made along the way in regards to this great club, and I am incapable of expressing my thanks to you both for that.
Thank you again, Tony. I find it unlikely that I will ever be paid a better complement than that.

Oh crap. How did I miss this thread. Okay, lots of answers to come soon, hopefully tomorrow. I got hood winked into Christmas shopping and then Solstice celebrations with lot of friends and family this evening. I have much to say on this thread, but no time right now, it's late.

Happy cruisin' and happy Solstice!

Thanks Ross!
You make a very good point. If Jeff doesn't chime in I promise I will point out the bylaws requirement at the special budget meeting Jeff has called for January 8th. My understanding from the call last night was that Jeff is talking to Herb. I understood that Herb would serve as an interim Secretary.

Of course, our first (and most important) task is the budget. If Herb serves through next year that's okay. If someone wants to fill the job, we can open and close nominations at one meeting, then vote the next. That's how the rules are set up. Are you interested or know someone that is?
Thanks in advance,
Happy Trails! N

Hi Nick

I was curious, as if the position was open I was considering volunteering my services to the BOD again, but if the BOD has decided on Herb, I can support that also. I just wish we would follow process, rather than making arbitrary decisions.

TLCA is at a cross roads, and I think I could contribute experience and insight into where we are, and where we will be. But I also know that Herb has as much if not more experience and history with TLCA, so I think he would be a fine BOD member. Of course, that is assuming the Herb is eligible for the position (member in good standing) and actually wants it.

Thanks

The changes were:

Jeff is President.

Art is MSVP but not Secretary anymore.

Secretary position is open.

I'm pretty sure that covers it.

OK, will someone post up the names of the BOD?

I take it Jeff won.

Congrats Jeff

Thanks Nolen!

We have big challenges ahead, with a nasty projected budget shortfall. We need to reverse the trend, and have a lot of work to accomplish.

Art is still acting Secretary. We have two who are willing to be Secretary, and unfortunately our bylaws and SOPs are silent on vacant positions except President. We need to amend the bylaws to provide guidance in the future, however in the past, the President has appointed someone to fill a vacant officer's position. I will do that after consultations with the other officers, and then ask for a vote of acclamation by the full board.

Happy cruisin' and Merry Christmas!

Bylaws are very clear --

The bylaws indicate that the position will be filled by an election of the BOD:

In the event of a vacancy in any other office, an election by the Board of Directors shall be called to elect a successor. The nomination and notification procedures for scheduled elections shall be followed.

What part is unclear? You must fill the vacancy with an election by the BOD (just the BOD, not all of the delegates). You must use the established Nomination and Notification procedures.

yes, it's cumbersome but it's there. This came about during the difficult years when folks were tired of volunteers just assuming positions on the Board without due notification, nomination (with closure) and vote process.

Hi Ross, what was unclear was that I had not read it right! My bad, your good, thanks for pointing that out to me both privately in your email and publicly here.

We will have a special BOD meeting on 1/8/09 as I announced on 12/18/08, and the agenda will be (1) approve a 2009 budget that we can live with, and (2) to close nominations for Secretary, election to be held 1/29/09.
