As the year's windin' down to a close ... reckon it's time for some lookin' back'ards at some of our successes and failures so we can adjust our headin's for the next year. Reflections of the past to shape the future sorta thang.

But y'all can keep that kinda s*** to yourselves. :flipoff2:

How 'bout just lookin' back at the crap ya broke on your Junk this year. :grinpimp:

I'll start. :D

1) Stress crack in weld on front axle mount for 3-link. Thanks to Mr. Sadler for weldin' 'er back solid for me.

2) Threw a rod in York compressor for onboard air. Old Man got me a new York and I actu'ly swapped 'er out by my ownself.

3) Burned up the bearin' on the power steerin' pump with excessive RPM's at Pismo. Old Man swapped out this deal for me.

4) Burned up the housin' on three differebt rocklights 'cause the exhaust got too hot and has been bumped too close by friggin' rocks due to some damn-poor spottin'. Still workin' on the repair.

Overall ... she seems to of held together purdy good.

:flamingo:

hmmmmmm, IIRC....

one broken rear axle at Tuttle Creek with TAC

two broken Newfield inner races .... not sure when or where

couple a t-case output seals and one cracked t-case housing :crybaby:

and last but not least ....

one battery cable to the winch that my dumbazz 'bout used to weld my hood shut at Flat Nasty :o

I reckon I need to order up some a Bobby's birfs, inners and hub gears, finish welding up the hydro-assist and build my spare t-case.

Mods on the 40 will be low this year as most of my effort will be going into the "Budget Buggy"..... speak'n a which I need some 4.88 gears, a Toy IFS mini-truck steering box, some mini-truck 4" lift springs and some suspension seats .....:D

 Happy New Year y'all!!!

To my knowledge-
1 busted driveshaft at Roundup
1 ripped ps brake line (hard) BMRA
1 ripped ps brake line (flex) BMRA
1 "tree branchhole" in tire sidewall at Clayton

Surprisingly, my steering held up, somehow.

Fixes:
Square driveshaft
Replaced the brakelines and tie out of harms way
got 4 semi new 36/14.5 MTs

The steering will be full hydro soon, going to run Longs 80 birfs and chromo inners (OEMs for spares), build them damn bumper thangs so as I can mount up that new fangled winch, build a cage and some rocker/door protection, and if'n I have the will power, put the T100 rear axle in the back and some 2" spacers up front. Yay.

Burned up another used smog pump in the 60. That makes 3 now.

Bent one of my new 4" springs on the 40 back in March because I forgot to weld an anti-inversion plate onto the shackles.:o

Blew a power steering hose on the Rubithon in June. dhondagod helped me get my generic spare to kinda work so that it only dribbles a teeny bit. Still haven't gotten around to puttin those purty custom hoses on that Downey donated.:o

Busted my first coarse birf in 14 years last Sept on the Dusy. Sure enough, had the wheel cranked hard, backing up, ARB on.:o Been so long, I almost forgot what that sound was!;p

Bent a rear axleshaft on the 40, THE HARD WAY! Posted a pic of that over on Pirate. Shure was a sight. Bowed right thru the middle. Limped it down the hill to dhondagod's house, where weak-link had a spare shaft waiting for me!:)

And then there was that perfectly good stereo in the 45 that the rain ate up on the way to Katemcy in March.:frown:

And the satellite radio in the 40 that the rain ate up in Big Bear in July.

Heck of a good year.

BTW, excellent thread Kowboy.

Well I have to say I was easy on mine & the wifes junk this year:

-I dented right front fender at GSMTR on the 60........have no clue how:frown:
-wife lost 2 back up lights at Razorback Ramble.....but it was worth it:eek:

That was it.........guess 07 will be interesting since wife now has working lockers front & rear...... ..........

I beat on the old Piggie pretty hard, when it was running, but can't remember breaking anything. Did go through several starters though.

Been a perty good year for me

Round-up- rear axle/bearing and a longfield

Ramble- burnt up an air compressor filter supplying air to Rob to drill out broken hub studs.

Moab- front spring

Flat Nasty-front and rear drive shaft

Crawl-exploded a front hub

Clayton- rear drive shaft

Broke a transmission to case adapter some where, found it while fixing oil leaks.

Not to bad when you consider that my cruiser was on the trail 47 days this year.:)  :flamingo:

I wanna play....

Busted hydraulic line fitting at the AR Ramble
Front u joint and rear driveshaft at AR TTORA
3 (count em) 3 busted rear driveshafts at Gray Rock
1 rear driveshaft at Clayton

I'm starting to see a pattern here.... Need to wheel some more to be sure though.:D

had me a driveshaft decide to cut loose whiles playin' in a creek thus meanin ended result of big gapin hole in there oil pan.

Hell , I drive a jeep and that bitch never breaks down and god am I thankful for my Jeep. By the way HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVERYONE.

What, other then some sheet metal, and a busted in half frame on that monster is Jeep Sir? :flipoff2:

Happy New Year!!!!

Didnt break anything on the cruiser but the wife rolled/murderd her ramcharger this year.... :frown:

Next years gonna be better!!

Chris:cool:

Guess you can't BREAK any motor mounts if you DON'T HAVE ANY!

;p

Remind me again how long it's been since you had an air filter?

And you did do a decent job of breakin your HONDA junk IIRC.

I "murdered" my DD/87 Ramcharger that had 51,150 orig miles on it.... Rolled it 2 complete 360's down a granite mountain... "E" ticket ride of my life!!!! The only thing not destroyed on the body was the frt fender/pushbar & back tailgate.....

Chris also totalled his DD/89 Honda Civic going over some RR tracks...

This year is looking better already...

Happy New Year everyone!!!

Susan:princess: :flamingo:

Caught both carbs on fire at the Roundup. :o Easy fix with pressure regulators, new air filters, and a change of underwear. 14 month old BeCool radiator started leaking from BOTH sides of the core where it attaches to the side tanks. Be Cool sent me a brand spankin' new one for free after "inspecting" the first one. :bounce: :bounce:

Umm, I killed a sidewall in one of the Irocks. 4WP warrantied it

Still need to fix my steering pump :)

well, much to kowboy's consternation, i didn't get to participate much this last year, or the year before for that matter. having said that...
1 tire to sidewall rip at icbm, but made the obstacle, so it's a wash.

two days after returning from icbm, rear pinion nut dropped off causing a real good time trying not to roll the beast.lost the complete third member in this particular scenario, all gears got torn up, and the housing even got cracked. thanks to jason h, back up and running that same weekend.
got a good exhaust leak that butch helped me find, got a vacuum leak we think we found, got a front driveshaft that has been re-installed backwards at some point(and no, i didn't do it)
didn't add any new dents, but ain't fixed none either.
not bad for a dd. now gas mileage, that's another story.

Hell. it would take me four days to type all the things that broke on the Beater this year.  I know we broke several birfields. A third member. Not to mention a wrinkled hood, front fenders. grill, and a couple of broken noses. :D :D Many thanks to all that helped fix the junk on and off the trail.   I know there had to be more but I can't remember exactly what.  I'll have to look on The Wall of Shame and figure it out. BTW Happy New Year Ya'll Murmy had to type this for me, cuz even this little bit would have taken a day or so. Fro
