I doubt one person in that Toyota dealership knows or cares about 40's, 60's and probably 80's. That 40 is only there by chance and is now there as an opportunity to capitalize on someone with a lot more cash than sense. I bought a AWD sienna there a while back for my wife (I swear) and that 40 was on the showroom floor, it was incredible how ignorant the salesman and his manager were about what that 40 was.

You just summed up evrey car salesman i have ever dealt with. When we bought our camry the salesman on the test drive told us he was too old to figure out the touch screen stereo display but we are young and should be able to figure it out. Why the fxxx are you here if you dont even know the features of one of the most common cars on the road that you get paid to sell??? No surprise that they wouldnt know s*** about land cruisers.

Cant wait until i can amazon prime my next car.

I'll be sitting there wondering what the F uck happened to my laffy taffy shipment while the whole fleet of drones is attempting to drop the Gehoff's ride at his house.

I think they use apache helicopters for the big stuff.

I drove my 60 to the dealership I frequent, and the sales people had no clue what it even was. They saw the Toyota script on the grill and came out to ask me if it was really a Toyota.

My sales guy told me they had a land cruiser he took on trade and I said is it an 80 or 100 series? And he said "what's that mean"?

But he did know how to make my infotainment system work.

Haha, I told you that would work. Are you happy now?

Does anybody know anything about the AWD system in a 2004 Rav4?

anything real serious to worry about at 150k miles for a well cared for car?

What if I wanted to neatly trim some sheetmetal, put 40's on it, drive it to south Dakota, wheel the snot of it and comfortable drive it home with the AC on?

No AWD vehicle is capable of that.

No serious TSBs. There's one on the head bolts pulling the threads out when you do a head gasket. That's a pain if it needs a HG, but they are not known for it and there is a repair procedure. Just requires an $800 kit to helicoil the block.
There is a problem with seepage from a vent on the right side of the transfer case from a seal that's since been redesigned. Just seepage though.
There's a cold start rattle that has been fixed with a better tensioner for the serp belt. If it has the rattle, beat them up on price and then swap out the cheap and easy part.
Nothing big. They are Camry based, so it's about as bulletproof a car as you can get without going full castration and getting a Camry.

and you never go full castration.

Buy my taco for 10k, it meets the above parameters. Matter of fact i think i was the only person besides tony and todd that did the trip with the ac blasting the whole time.

My parameters have changed to a bicycle.

Finally done with this.
Landed on a 2005 RAV4 AWD with 130k.
Thanks for all of the input!
