BaT Listing: 2001 Lexus LX470 - https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2001-lexus-lx470-8/

I purchased the vehicle on BaT in October 2022 with 141k miles on it. Over 3+ years of ownership, I have completed an extensive amount of preventative maintenance and upgrades, both personally and through reputable independent Toyota/Lexus shops in Oklahoma City and Denver. I have over $16,000+ in documented maintenance receipts. Summary below.

Maintenance & Service (in order completed)
  • New OEM AHC accumulator globes; OEM AHC fluid flush/refill – AHC and neutral pressures dialed in per YotaMD AHC cheat sheet
  • Flush and refill of transmission fluid, transfer case fluid, differential fluid, and brake fluid
  • New warm white LED bulbs throughout the interior
  • Windshield wiper arms removed, sanded, and repainted
  • Driver door molding replaced with OEM
  • Third brake light removed, OEM gasket replaced, and reinstalled
  • Timing belt, water pump, serpentine belt, idler and tension pulleys, etc. (see receipt)
  • Wheel bearing service
  • New OEM fan clutch bracket
  • Interior A/C condenser gasket replaced with OEM (fixes common passenger footwell condensate leak)
  • Engine and cabin air filters replaced
  • OEM Toyota A/C condenser filter cleaning treatment
  • CV axles replaced
  • New OEM fuel filter
  • Engine mounts replaced with OEM
  • Transmission mount replaced with OEM
  • All spark plugs and ignition coils replaced with OEM Denso
  • MAF sensor and throttle body cleaned
  • New OEM alternator and battery
  • New tie rod ends (555)
  • Oil cooler seal and figure-8 gasket replaced
  • New OEM fan shroud and fan blade (Slee Offroad)
  • Fuel pump replaced with OEM (Slee Offroad)
  • Transfer case rebuilt with OEM components (Cruiser Corps)
  • New OEM Toyota radiator and hoses and fresh coolant (2001LC)
  • PCV valve and grommet replaced (2001LC)

Modifications & Upgrades
  • Bowfin Cruisers roof rack
  • NAV delete with Alpine head unit, Apple CarPlay, amp bypass, and all new speakers/tweeters
  • Nomad 501 Convoy wheels with BFGoodrich KO2 tires
  • New leather front seat covers, armrest, and center console
  • Custom drawer system built by a professional trim carpenter, stained and carpeted; doubles as sleeping platform with rear seats folded
  • WeatherTech floor mats

Ownership & Condition Notes
  • Oil changes every 3–4k miles using Mobil-1 5W-30 and OEM YZZD-03 filters
  • Driveshaft zerks greased at every oil change
  • Most recent oil change: November 2025 @ 169k miles
  • One accident on Carfax (rear-ended at stoplight early in my ownership); bumper and tailgate fascia replaced with OEM parts by reputable body shop – excellent color match
  • Minor clearcoat fade below driver and passenger windows (pictured); only visible within ~1 ft
  • Sunroof is inoperable, but is sealed professionally and does not leak
  • Engine was replaced prior to my ownership with a 2UZ-FE from a 1999 LX470
    • Engine had ~230k miles at installation
    • Current engine mileage: ~260k miles
    • Carfax included showing regular service at Naperville Lexus with 3–5k oil intervals
Most recently, 2001LC (IH8MUD staple) completed the radiator replacement, PCV service, and several additional minor items. This truck is fully sorted – I would confidently drive it cross-country tomorrow.

Why I’m Selling

I purchased a 2002 LX470 with 70k miles from my father, which he bought on BaT in 2024 after liking my LX so much. Otherwise, I would keep this truck indefinitely.

I will obviously be losing money given the $16K+ in maintenance alone, but I’d much rather see this go to a MUD member who understands what’s been done and will continue to enjoy it.

I lost my OK title during my move to Colorado this past summer and will receive an updated OK title once I complete a Sheriff VIN Inspection in Denver, which is scheduled for 1/22/2026. After this date clean title can/will be transferred.

Please PM me with questions or to schedule a test drive in Denver, CO.
Not in a rush to sell.

Thanks for looking.

Bit confused on the mileage so the engine was replaced and this has 260k actual engine miles?
Correct, engine block was replaced prior to my ownership in 2022. Engine block has 260K miles, rest of the car has 170K miles. Carfax for the engine block is in the google drive folder (as well as the Carfax for the listed LX).

Looks great, love this color (along with River Rock Mica).
BaT says it was repainted--the entire truck, or just the darker lower cladding?
Odd that BaT didn't mention the engine replacement--hopefully you know about that before BaT purchase. Any idea why the need for the replacement engine?

Appreciate it! In my opinion, it’s the best color.

I’m not entirely sure whether only the “Mystic Sea” section or the entire body was repainted, but the paint presents very well overall. The only minor issue is some clearcoat fading along the tops of the door panels (visible in the detailed photos in the shared album). It was already like this when I purchased the truck and has not worsened at all over 3+ years.

BaT did not mention the engine replacement, and the seller was unaware of it as well, so it’s unclear what led to that work being done. That said, it goes without saying here that the 2UZ-FE is known to run 500k+ miles with proper maintenance. The Carfax for the replacement engine shows regular service intervals at a Lexus dealership. After learning about the engine replacement, I still chose to continue investing time and money into the truck and have since taken it on multiple cross-country trips and it has performed great.

On a related note, this is concerning about these auction sites. Was the seller really unaware of an engine replacement or chose to play the ignorance card..

Glad it worked out and you did all that work to it..
Hope it sells!
