Palo Duro Canyon state park (TX). The timing didn't work out to be able to go to nearby Merus Adventure Park, so it was mostly mountain biking and hiking this time around. Will definitely plan on Merus next time.
I did the opposite. Had time for Merus but not PaloDuro. Just got back.

The 200 is my favorite road trip vehicle so far.

By chance did they ever offer the 5.7 200-series in that region with a manual transmission?

Manual 200 Series do exist, but are not nearly as common as the automatics.

Here is a related thread:

…and here are a few more working 200 Series:

Yes, I'm aware of manuals being available in the 200 outside the U.S., and have a friend who travels to Africa occasionally who has driven them.

But specifically, can anyone verify if there was a manual transmission offered with the 5.7L V8?

If there was, I'd love to order the parts and make the change to my U.S. Spec 200-series.

You can browse all the trims available worldwide at partsouq. It'll take some clicking but you could determine this in 15 or 20 min, maybe less.

Whenever there's a nice Saturday, I take whichever one of my sons wants to go clear some of the fire-hazard underbrush (by hand, only what's necessary). It's great one-on-one time with lots of manual labor (not to mention Buccee's lunch on the tailgate). Each time, the cruiser is able to get further in the property from what was cleared out the previous time.

In the spring beware the Timber Rattlers in that area, Copperheads as well.

Yes, I have a friend who has his own venom extraction business, and he's going to come out this spring to teach me how to safely capture snakes. If they're big enough, he wants them.

We use snake boots or snake leg coverings whenever we're working there, just in case. Although it sounds like they're seldom seen at this spot.

I have friends outside of Paige just to the north of Bastrop and they kill them often. Snake boots are mandatory but gotta also be looking where you reach as well. I only mentioned it because you said you had the kids doing brush removal by hand.

I was there for the week of Christmas my parents live there. 2 inches of snow and a little ice and the tourists are bowling themselves down the hills into each other and into ditches. I had to get out in the 200 to pick up 10 family members stranded in town. The cruiser was sure footed and up to the task it was getting around the traffic and accidents that was the challenge. 1st time cramming that many people in the 200.

What’s the story behind that wadded up tire? Too much skinny pedal?
Ripped the valve stem off in a bad spot and had to drive a bit to get to a somewhat okay spot. Having the wheel up against the rock is what mangled it off the rim
