Pretty sure this is down the street from me. Right on!
Awesome! I love Bastrop. Somehow it's never on anyone's radar (which makes it even better).

Oh it is, but unfortunately it's getting a ton of hipster d-bag Austin transplants which are slowly ruining it. We have a pending employment offer there, so we are considering a move but I bet we end up closer to Smithville in terms of property should we decide to make the move. Bastrop is a nice community but we shall see what the future holds for it and of course the fire risk there is extremely high as well.

I went to high school in Bastrop but preferred to hang out with hipster d-bag’s so moved into Austin as quickly as possible.

I was living in Austin during the BSP fire. That was wild. Lots of friends lost their homes - thought my parents would lose theirs but thankfully didn’t get to them. Looking to the east from Austin, Bastrop looked like Mordor - just a huge column of black smoke topped by a massive black smoke cloud. We thought the whole town would be gone.

I moved to Portland (because I’m a hipster d-bag) and was here for the 2020 fires. Now THAT was terrifying. I’ve never experienced anything like that. West coast fires are no joke. These pictures were taken on my way to work at about 9:00 am - should have been sunny out.

Being a hipster d-bag is one thing, but are you a stinky hipster d-bag? 😂

I lived in Austin from 2008-2011 (amongst the hordes of newly self-proclaimed hipster d-bags arriving by the hundreds daily) so I was there for the first big fire. I was big into diving back then and I remember being at the dive park out on Lake Travis and seeing ash in the water 100ft down, wild stuff.

I’ve lived in bastrop for about 8 years now. We have a had a few close calls with fire in that time. At night you could see it glow red…

It's sad to see how much it has changed the area over the years but unfortunately it's just the nature of the game in that area when in drought years.

Ugh oh… You’re not one of those activist types? Like all driving around in a 200 and yelling at elderly people calling them white fashists and something about white colonialism are you? We just might have to take your 200 card from you.
