A little dirt road glamour shot for the weekend

Got a new family member in the garage... driving a 40 is an amazing experience. It just feels good.

Another overnighter, this time a bit further from home.

Obligatory stop for firewood:

Went down a random trail, found access to a lake. This will do for a campsite!

Pro tip: if you see the ground covered in tree needles, expect to have them not only over all of your gear, but also in every plate and cup again, and again, and again. #neverAgain

Does a bear sh*t in the woods? Yes, he uses this toilet.

Bet this is a nice place to go for a swim in the summer!

Found this little guy.

On the way home we decided to do some exploring and went up a trail that was supposed to lead to a viewpoint. We climbed quickly, and found snow in no time.

While I have near-new winter tires, I found myself wishing for all terrains on the trail. Lots of loose rock under the snow.

The side trail to the actual viewpoint looked pretty tight and rough, and I opted not to risk it solo and with a trailer, so we carried on via the main trail as far as we could, and eventually reached a dead end. With no room to turn around, I had to back up some ~300 metres. Steepish trail, snow, trailer, drop off on one side, and nasty bushes nearly everywhere... it wasn't fun, and the LX has another million pinstripes. Ugh.

Eventually made it back down far enough to be able to turn around.

On the way down autumn showed its head again.

We decided to follow along another trail that ran under the power lines. It was long and occasionally winding.

Stopped here only because the light was nice and I thought it would make for a nice photo. It did.

CBI Off Road 200 series Ditch mount Brackets

Also...info on those sliders would be appreciated as well :)

With winter upon us, properly washing the car is impossible, but I think I've figured out a good-enough approach for these cold months.

1. Touchless, automated car wash to get most of the grime off.
2. An instant detailer product (Meguires, Mothers, etc.) + microfibre towels = 10 mins.
3. Turtle Ice Seal N Shine wax + microfibre towels = 10 mins.

Quick, effective, and sure beats staring at a filthy car all winter!

I feel you on this. I had a black Sequoia and while beautiful, it was a task to keep clean even inthe summer with all the pollen. I do love my silver LX though. So easy to “keep clean.” :)

First post here, so might as well make it something that is hopefully helpful...

I can't relate to anything less than a full, proper wash because we don't have real winters here in Texas but as a very experienced (hobbyist) detailer, you'd be better off using ONR (Optimum No Rinse) for step #2 and P&S Bead Maker for step #3. ONR is actually designed for your intended use, and Bead Maker is a product that I and many others in the detailing world (see YouTube) fell in love with recently. It could not be easier to use and the results are outstanding....very slick with durability comparable to the best sealants. Both products can be found on Amazon.

Thanks for the tip! I've still got plenty of both products left, but I'll order the ones you've suggested and try them out when I run out of the stuff I currently have.
