All caught up! Thinking if its time for another group buy...
Good to hear from you! I’d be interested in a group buy as well. Especially if they don’t end up taking turns flickering like my current interior LED light “upgrade”.

MEMORIAL DAY PROMO:

I will be offering a promo for free license plate lights and free front marker lights until Memorial day weekend for ALL LED interior kit orders! :)

At the prices of these two things for free it will make it so that it is basically 20-25% off. This will effectively be the group buy. If you order the warm white kit, I will also throw in the red map lights for free!

Hoping I can get some help here, has anybody else bought this kit?

Ordered the kit, took awhile but it finally showed up (I was fine with that). It sat on my bench in the garage while I waited for warm weather. Finally opened the envelope over a week ago. It's a zip-lok baggie with a bunch of bulbs... that's it. Most of them are all the same, none of them are labelled at all. No instructions whatsoever.

Sent a note (PM) to the seller, he promised to send me some instructions. Nothing yet, so I sent a reminder PM the other day. No response.

Any tips? I am reluctant to just start jamming bulbs into various sockets, as I know from replacing them before that the OEM bulbs are not all the same. Maybe I'm over-complicating this, but I don't think I'm being unreasonable to expect some basic notes for a "premium" product. I don't need instructions on how to remove the lenses or old bulbs, but just tell me where the bulbs are supposed to go.

May this serve as a warning to others considering this upgrade.

Looks like Chinese special bulbs too

@KLF I apologize for your experience with my customer service. I do not have an excuse for the shipping delay and also the delay in replying to your message regarding instructions. I do have a another job, so there are days where I get off late and miss the post office or get off late and are not able to get to messages. Your kit (the correction items will be sent out tomorrow as stated in my message reply to you). Normally though, over the last 12 years that I have been selling LEDs on ih8mud, the late shipping and late replies are not the norm.

I'm actually glad you brought up the "zip-lok" packaging and the "warning" to future buyers...as now I can discuss both these items regarding packaging in this paragraph and quality of the kit a couple paragraphs down from this one. This is actually the third different type of packaging that I have been through. I started off with sealing bulbs inside one bubble wrapped envelope then putting that bubble wrapped envelope inside another envelope. For this method, I got complaints that the contents of the package can shift around. So I then invested in a machine that can package using anti-static sheets. Someone complained that this method made it difficult to open the kit and can lead to accidentally cutting the contents. Then I moved to easy open zip-lock bags inside a bubble wrap supported outer envelope...which then led to people complaining that it is zip lock. So now to alleviate the problems that people were complaining about I have moved to a much more expensive packaging option (without increasing price) which I feel solves all the problems with packaging. Now the kits are double encased. First layer is a clasp opening packaging which is folded in a manner that allows minimal movement with the outer layer being a bubble wrap layered/encased envelope. It looks like I will be sticking to this packaging style for now. I may just have to accept that each packaging method will have people that don't like it.

People continually ask me why I do not put up a website. The short answer is with every order I like the person who is ordering to be able to tell me how they are feeling and what setup I can recommend. Yes, I can probably do this with a website and a dropdown menu but some people want to know what a warm white and xenon white comparison setup has as their benefits as well as other recommendations. I only sell here on mud, that has been the case over the last decade. I had a website for about 4 years but with that, I lost enjoyment of doing QC and conversing with buyers about their kit. Most of the time I even know what stage is someone in their build and what their future goals are. I have even sold an LED kit to a couple of people doing SEMA builds, thats always a cool feeling. I am a landcruiser enthusiast first and alot of other forum vendors have this same feeling about their product. For cruiser heads by cruiser heads as our local club likes to say.

I do provide baseline instructions upon request by citing several resources. Providing PDF instructions brings about a whole new can of worms. 90% of the time buyers don't really need instructions. Most people request, "where does x bulb go"...so I send them a labeled photo of their kit prior to me packaging it.

Thank you to everyone who has been supportive of the LED kits over the last 12 years. I will continue to improve the product and improve the process. While other sellers simply order and repackage, I actually test each individual bulb using a jig I have setup here in my office. This allows me to test each bulb and component for its normal operational functions (such as but not limited to door close dimming effect) before it is packaged and shipped to its new home. It is tedious, but yes I do enjoy it and will hopefully be able to be of service to the current and future landcruiser enthusiasts here. Recently, I've even considered closing down the retrofit portion of my services because the number of daily LED orders are taking alot of time. As far as vouching for the quality of my kits...the first kit I ever sold and tested was in 2012 to @CycloSteve and his son now drives the 80 series which has that original kit. That same QA process from 2012 is the same process I use now. I've sold thousands of kits over the last 12 years so I'm hoping most everyone has the same experience as Cyclosteve

Continually hoping to improve this LED service for everyone on here. Sorry for the long message...here is a photo of warm white 200 series versus a xenon white 100 series since a lot of people ask about this :)

As a very near future purchaser of your kit, I appreciate the longer-than-normal response.

I would love at some point if an identical photo could be located to showcase the warm vs xenon. ie: same angle and both 200s.

Hey man,

I'll try to get some! If I can't have two people who have the xenon and warm white show up to take photos I'll borrow one and switch the kit out to show the difference.

Thank you,
L

@KLF I apologize for your experience with my customer service.
Hi, I'm good with the service. My only reason for the above post was I had no idea what bulbs went where in the truck. I know the original OEM incandescent bulbs were not all the same, so I was reluctant to just start plugging them in everywhere. As you know, I installed everything on Saturday, and it turns out that is indeed the case, you can just plug all the bulbs into the wedge/bayonet base in all the locations, it's easier than I expected. Maybe just a note in the package to say that is in order?

I didn't need any instructions on how to get the various lenses out to access the bulbs, I've done this many times on many vehicles.

As for the packaging, I was totally fine with the zip-lok baggie, sorry for the confusion on my part. The bulbs are sturdy enough that the bubble-wrap envelope was plenty of padding.

I haven't even looked at them in the dark yet to see how bright they are, been too busy with other projects around the house. Thanks for a great product, I'm a happy customer!

Please do, as this is the only thing keeping me from ordering. Looking forward on making progress on this. Thanks for the time!

Is this the warm or the warm or xenon kit?
