20 years in the making. 72-fj55

I'm still tripping out about finally catching up with Ben, after 22 years. I'm really excited to meet him and show off the truck. When I was shopping for it I was looking for an FJ40. Fj40s were and still are very expensive, and when this Fj55 popped up, it piqued my curiosity. I got online and started reading and determined that the FJ55 was probably worth looking at. At the time my dad was looking for a Volkswagen dual cab pickup for me, but was also considering an FJ40, because grandpa had one... That ol story. So we went and saw this drove it, and determined that it ran strong enough and didn't have much cancer so we forked over the cash and trailered it home. It cost about 1/3 the price of a similar fj40.
Over the years the swine flu never really went away. Fast forward to today, I'm thinking to myself as I pull weeds in my garden, I don't even know what I'd do with an FJ40 if I had one. You can't put very much stuff in em, they only have 2 seats. And their cost, in my opinion outstrips their utility. Having now owned an fj55 for 22 years, I no longer think the fj40 is the dream machine.
The Fj55 is the one to have.
Today I got a lead on another one up in the hills, waiting... $1500

Today I used the FJ 55 to take my starts out to my garden. I got 2 rows of tomatoes and a row of cucumbers planted from starts, then I pulled irrigation tape.
I think the garden is looking really good about now.

I'm hoping to have lots of good food to eat!
You’ve got me off my🫏, had to move 20 yards of dirt to get disc out, had to move garden as I will need to excavate for new electric line to back of garage/shop for more power. With PG&e they say 4-16 months!, and that’s just to run cable.
Anyway disced new area, rototill tomorrow, plant this weekend, smaller garden this year as we are moving out for remodeling, but gotta have them homegrown tomatoes

Thats why my Weed 😳😯 I mean tomatoes 🍅 aint gwoing 😘.

I planted over 200 Marijuana seeds and got one healthy sprout, so don't feel bad @bobm. I ended up just buying starts at the dispensary. We'll see how that goes...
As for my real garden, I got a few more 100' rows cleared today, I got a row of cucumbers seeded, and irrigation tape run. That brings me to my total, which is 2 rows of tomatoes, 2 rows of cucumbers, a row of beets a row of carrots and a row of chard.

I've got a bunch of peppers seeded, but they're also having a hard time getting started so I planted a bunch more, thinking that I probably planted too late.
I'm going to also plant mellons (away from the cucumbers) water mellons zucchini, yellow squash, pumpkins, and winter squash. Oh and a few different types of basil. Mint, cilantro, and probably a few that I'm forgetting.
I'm using the FJ 55 as my work vehicle for all of this...

I'd like to also plant a few patches of amaranth which is a grain. You grow it out, let it go to seed and push it over for your chickens. I've got ~60 chickens now and I'm hoping to deliver a dozen free range eggs with each of my produce boxes.

Second dibs
I don't think there will be second dibs.
As soon as I get this guy's phone number, I'm arranging to go and get it. Jesse has already volunteered his car hauler, it's practically a done deal. The first photos came in and it looks to be typical nor cal, rust free body. Front fenders are stripped back to the firewall, and it's sitting on some sort of IFS Dana 44 looking contraption up front. Fun! If I go get it, I'll probably leave it on it's Ford frame until I have my other fj55 frame prepped and ready to accept the new body. It appears to have all the fenders, hood and a variety of other stuff crammed in the interior.
Typical mountain found, abandoned project. I just need to get the guys contact info. His price is agreeable, rust appears to be minimal.
