2 keys to get in and Start my 100 (1 Viewer)

New to the site, just bought my first LC. 2001 249K.
I have one key that opens the doors but does not turn the ignition. The second key doesn't open the doors but will start the engine.
I am thinking that the ignition was replaced and that is the reason for the separate keys.
Does anyone have another idea or similar issue?

Just hope you have the master key.... but it does sound about right.

Does anyone know if it's possible to reprogram the original door key to match new ignition.

Are you saying the buttons on the other key won't unlock the doors or the actual key won't turn in the door lock? If the key cuts are different then you'd need to replace cylinders.

I meant reprogram the transponder. But I've answered my own question.
Either change the door locks or the ignition to get one key to work both.
2 keys doesn't seem too bad right now.

For now, I'll stick to the separate keys. Also Looking into a push button start. So many things to do...
