I'm loving the 255 love! You have to run them without the flares.

My spare just started to fit in the spare location now that it has worn down a bit (~20k). I am running a weird homebrew hitch though which may slightly reduce clearance down there.

I don't think you want on offroad tire that has a superlong treadlife - I think this tire is a good tradeoff. I like Cooper for the same reasons stated - I got mine from a local independent tire distributor who has been around forever.

Mine didn't fit for some reason. I suspect the trailer hitch was in the way.

However, I really like having my spare inside. I have two spares, but I think I'll throw #2 on the roof when I need it.

There are benefits to having it inside and yours is secured nicely. I have the factory hitch which seems to add a bit more space to some of the after market ones out there. I have three dogs (boxers) that often ride in the back and need the space for gear so the cargo area was not working well.

Another note. I read on another thread that they are going to stop making the Cooper ST in this size. Not sure if this is true but our 255/85 16 options are getting smaller by the year. Up side to that I guess is if we are left with one option in this size then not much thought goes in to which one to get.

Slee makes a very solid looking bar/spare mount for the rear too. I just like that the baskets will hold two water cans each. I have the 6 gallon blue plastic ones with the nato dimensions.

I would like a rear bumper but they are price prohibitive for me right now and I would still only like to use the rear swing out for my 6th tire/wheel on occasion. That's why I figured I would throw it on the roof for those unique trips.

I would put two in the rear but that would take up nearly all useable space back there.

I love the KM2's. I hope there's some warning before they stop making them or something. I'd stock up if they ended production.

i'm a fan of the inside spare. you never know when or where you'll it.

Does anyone know if these 255/85/16 Coops will fit with a stock suspen? I need tires now and can't do the 2.5 hvy OME yet.
Any help is appreciated.

Also for the inside spare, just use a ratchet strap around either side front and back and buckle to the floor
hooks?

Anyone priced the 285s recently to compare with 255s? I remember paying close to $970 for 4 285s in 2008 installed, balanced, taxed, road hazard ins. Got 51k on the revos. Thinking about 255s for next set.

As a side note, I found the OME 850's over weighted when I had the ARB bumper and Warn M8000 winch, plus the weight of sliders, roof rack, under-armor, etc... I just went to the OME 418 3" Competition Coils. Now I'm back in business! The springs are again up to the task of supporting the weight. The ride is significantly improved, firmer and less harsh at the same time. Caster is WAYYY off though. I'm at -0.6 and -0.7 with OME caster bushings. Will be swapping out the OME bushings for some new OEM bushings and the Slee caster plates.
