Hi there,
I am new to Toyota and acutally dont have a Landcruiser. My current toy is a 1993 Toyota Coaster, which at that time was manufactured with a 1HZ engine without turbo and a 24 volt system. I hope there a some people here who have experience with this engine.
My current problem is the glow resistor which sits in the second intake manifold pipe.
When I bought the vehicle I tried to figure out why it was not glowing (no voltage at the first glow plug). Finally I found that the pre-heating timer was sending current into the glow resistor (24 volt at the resistor connetor) but there was nothing comming out of it.
A quote from the Toyota dealer for the resistor left me crying and I ended up buying via part number (28621-68020) from an ebay dealer in Abu Dabi for half price. The part number was from toyodiy and megazip.
The part arrived and as expected and the visual appearance as well as the parameters engraved on both the resistors (part number and 7.7 volt), the one I pulled out and the one from Abu Dabi, were the same. However I was a bit irritated by the voltage at the plugs. It started with about 7+something and ended at 14.+something. Voltage at the resistor was 24. In addition, the glow light in the dash was not burning.
Now after about 3 weeks the new resistor is dead, getting voltage from the preheating timer but not sending anything to the plugs.
Can it be that the part number in toyodiy/megazip is wrong and therefore the 24v system has burned out a 12v resistor?? When looking into the manual the voltage curve at the plugs for a 1hz 24 volt system with super glow type looks very different. It should start with about 18v and go up to 24v.
Any idea.
Thank a lot.
