That’s wild - you’re getting up to temp, then cooling off while idling. I wonder if this is when the FTE ecu would be kicking on the intake heater screen.

I think that's only on starting, I'm not sure. it's odd, Later on, on the way home it stayed around 160, I idled in the grocery store parking lot waiting on groceries and it stayed at 160. I'm going to see how it does throughout the winter and go from there. That’s wild - you’re getting up to temp, then cooling off while idling. I thought that was basically just a substitute for glow plugs. That’s wild - you’re getting up to temp, then cooling off while idling. I wonder if this is when the FTE ecu would be kicking on the intake heater screen.
Thanks for the input, im going on a longer road trip and will see how it does. Most of this is from around town driving.I thought that was basically just a substitute for glow plugs.
That seems way too cold, even for cold weather, To the point where it's a concern because you're never boiling off condensation in the crankcase.
Remind me, is the hotter side of the radiator typically the top or bottom?
Probably time to go ahead and order a fan clutch and thermostat just to make sure.Looks like top side should be hot since bottom returns to the engine

There are tests to see if the fan clutch is seized. I think we can assume based on the details that it's either functioning normally or seized. When you fire it up, does it roar for a minute or two, then calm down? Also, with the engine off and cold, you should be able to grab a blade and move it freely... it'll feel like there's some resistance, but you should be able to move it around without any real effort, and it'll stay where you moved it to.Probably time to go ahead and order a fan clutch and thermostat just to make sure.
I was able to find the thermostat and gasket through a local Toyota dealership, looks like Cruiser outfitters might have a fan clutch. There are tests to see if the fan clutch is seized. My money is on thermostat, but it's just a guess at this point.
Maybe I'm just being cheap, but I'd go out, pop the hood and see how that fan moves before I did anything else. if it seems fine, try the thermostat. If not, order the clutch.I was able to find the thermostat and gasket through a local Toyota dealership, looks like Cruiser outfitters might have a fan clutch.
Oh yeah, fan clutch feels fine. I only ordered the thermostat with gasket for now. Hopefully its just a 25.00 dollar fix.Maybe I'm just being cheap, but I'd go out, pop the hood and see how that fan moves before I did anything else. if it seems fine, try the thermostat. If not, order the clutch.
It’s no straight pipe, this system has what some call the “hotdog” muffler. Very happy with it thoughYour exhaust sounds so much better than mine! LOL. I'm going to have to go true straight pipe.
Ive known them as cherry bombs lmfao. Might have to revisit an exhaust shop soon, how does it sound on the highway? It’s no straight pipe, this system has what some call the “hotdog” muffler. Very happy with it though
No drone on the highway at all. For the most part I don’t hear it all that much in the cabin, mostly engine noise through the firewall.Ive known them as cherry bombs lmfao. Might have to revisit an exhaust shop soon, how does it sound on the highway?
Haha I recently straight piped mine. Love it. Much better than with the muffler. I hear it when I get on it at slower speeds, can hardly hear it in the cab at highways speeds. No drone on the highway at all. I’ll try to grab a video soon, I do love the way it sounds. Like a little Cummins almost.
