1FZ-F Replacement Head

Hey y’all,

Long time lurker, first time caller. I’ve got a 1997 FZJ75 pickup from the UAE (I’m in the US) and it’s got the carbureted 1FZ-F. A month ago I blew up the engine and I’m working on a rebuild. I was hoping to rescue the head but it saw a lot of heat and started melting in spots and I need a replacement. So here’s my question:

Can I buy a new 1FZ-FE replacement head from Toyota (p/n 11101-69107) to replace my carbureted head (p/n 11101-69096)?

Are there any differences between the carbureted and fuel injected versions of the 1FZ Head?

I don’t know the answer to your question but am curious.
Never seen a head melt before would love to see some pictures of that?
Did you check it for flatness or have a machine shop inspect it? You won’t have a lot of options if a new head is not interchangeable, you might have to fix your head regardless.

i think it will work if you machine out the opening for the mechanical fuel pump. drill and tap the holes for it. haven't tried it though. post up pics of the damage.

There are significant differences between the heads.

With all those 70 series takeoff bodies lying around the states, I want to know if there is interest in the full dash, HVAC, harness, LHD, 12V, steering column, etc., off the late models.

If we have enough interest “over 10” I may prep terms and last of the parts and limitations.

Hello,

^^^^This is an excellent option for you.

Engine block and engine head are different between the 1FZ-F and 1FZ-FE engines, because of the fuel injection system of the latter. Chances are parts for the former are long discontinued.

1FZ engines are very resistant to overheating. Apparently you drove yours to the extreme.
