Recently purchased a Sony XAV-AX5600 head unit and am beginning the install process. I am having trouble figuring out what I need to do to bypass the factory amp. After searching the forum many users recommended the Metra 70-8116 harness, but everywhere online says it only fits 2000-2007 models. So would I just cut the wires from the amp harness and then splice them with speaker wire with the corresponding wire to the head unit?

Hi - did you ever install the Metra 70-8116?

I have a '99 and am adding an amp to my Alpine HU. Previous owner's audio installer used T-taps to bypass amp and get HU signal to the factory speaker wires. I'd like to remove the T-taps and use the 70-8116 to connect to the new amp I'm installing (if that's what the 70-8116 is intended for).
