I wouldn't assume the head gasket has been replaced. Lots of high mileage FZJs with original head gaskets. If the half moons on the front of the head under the valve cover have gray FIPG
Chances are good you are still on the original head gasket.

My cam seals FIPG Is more of a bone color, Or light beige. All I know for sure Is that Its origional, and most likely aged. Grey Is used on Imports. Good Luck. !

Is it really necessary to have your oil tested? I mean, what's it really going to expose to you that typical signs aren't? I am just curious, maybe catching a head gasket before it gets really bad or knowing the oil you put in it is s***?

It was a recent purchase I had limited history on. Seems like testing is a no-brainier to fill in some details. We use oil testing in machinery all the time to predict failure. Not to be a smart ass but why wouldn't you want to catch an issue before it went catastrophic?

No, I was just curious. :) Definitely don't want to be driving in a blown head gasket lol. I bought mine with the gasket blown. You can see in my avatar with the fresh one sitting in. You start warping s*** once you don't watch your temp gauge. You will have to replace it sooner than later, have fun with that engine harness lmao!!!

Engine oil analysis, like that from Blackstone, can give you an idea of the condition of your oil and can help you adjust your oil change periodicity (either more or fewer miles). It can also tell you if your bearings are going, if you have fuel or other contaminants in your oil. It's sort of like getting a blood test for your ride.

Cool, MAOS also meets there, I may try and make it down...

Yep. I keep meaning to make it out to an MAOS. Vince and Nathan from Forge Specialties in F-burg, and CLCC club members, are regulars at the MAOS meetings.

Did you make it to the MD MAOS meeting last weekend?

Sure did, I organize the Baltimore/Annapolis MAOS meeting. :) About 8 of us enjoyed some good food and beverage, then got to play in the snow driving home. Great group of folks and I am really enjoying meeting more of us like-minded peeps from the area as well. I need to get my TLCA membership bought.
