Sure there are some watching that may not have seen a 73 in person, as I had not, and are unsure what to expect, so I'll offer:
Lemme tell you these are dang close to as cool as driving a Pig.
Very cool Cruisers, built tough and you'll look forward to driving....this particular one probably 5000 times more than mine, as mine's a VM with a cracked head, tires are shot, leafs flat, shocks non-existent, smells like a scene from Broke-Back Mountain (Stetson and Old Spice must've got it on in it) and I STILL love driving the thing.
Have never seen this particular 73 for sale, don't know anything about it, but if mine is indicative of the Portuguese market, as a whole, there's less rust than what was port installed on most 80s I've seen.
Just cool a$$ Cruisers.
Honestly have to admit the ONE aspect of driving that sucks, especially if you've a warm, bubbly personality, like I do:
Everyone wants to talk about them, everywhere you go, even folks that don't know a Toyota from a Chebby.
Takes three times longer to run simple Saturday morning errands, due to, and you've got to be ever mindful that the dude flagging you down in traffic is wanting to chat about, NOT trying to rob you.
Pulled into a convenience store for coffee, to come out and be surrounded by an $80k 4 door Heep crowd, probably on their way to the 4WP sale, to buy ANOTHER hi lift for their 22s ('cause every jeep needs three hilifts...) and they're all ohhing and ahhing over my 73, again, that pales in comparison (why I bought, FYI) to the one being offered, since a 3B'd 73.
Anyhow, hope this helps someone.
Edited: To be honest, be it the FJC, Pig, dearly departed 80, seems a trend that the Heepers show interest in.
Not that it's the reason, 'cause, believe it or not, I don't talk muchand personality of a porcupine (know the latter is even harder to believe), but it must say something about Cruisers, as a whole.
For you single doods....chicks love the 73.....until the get wind of the interior aroma of mine.
Just wanted to second what Delancy said; and more eloquently than I could've. Personal bias: I have a serious affection for Pigs, 40-series (esp. 45 troopies and pickups, 12H-T hi-roof 61s, and pretty much every 70-series that has ever awesomed its way down the roadway. Yours is clearly an ace specimen worth more than any half-plastic "SUV" you see in dealerships these days.
The more I see ridiculously "outfitted" H2s, H3s, and other shonky contraptions (22" spokey rims with rubber-band tires / chrome everywhere / bulky armour that's for show not real protection / ill-conceived body-only lifts, etc.) that only look cracking, but never see anything more off-road than various yuppie driveways, the more I appreciate TLCs in general, and the humble 60 I'm currently un-knackering.
My younger brother has an old tan CJ7, and is only considered "clean" when 90% of the mud and sand gets hosed off - he has made various modifications to make it more functional, not to attract attention (but he does anyway). We tease each other about our "religious differences" ("Heep" vs. "Blandbruiser"), but he's my best mate and uses the vehicle exactly as intended - go anywhere well out in the wop-wops and enjoy.
IMHO - Ebay @ $15k - $16k (or more!) and you'll prolly get a hardout horde lining up to buy a true-blue truck.
