Interior is in good shape , seats must have been re-upholstered at some point. The center hump in the front has some stains.

Not sure what this rig is worth, what does the Mud world think. Am I too steep at $6500? We'll see if I get any interest

Ive been poking around and seeing what else is for sale out there and I think I'm a bit too high with this one to start....

Price lowered to $5500...Would have probably went a bit lower if I didn't have the two sets of tires....Otherwise I'm not sure what to compare this rig to or what its worth to some folks but we'll see how it goes.

That is one sweet Toyota. You might be a little high on price, but like you said with the 2 sets of tires it seems pretty fair, especially for what it is. Very unique and economical vehicle.
Out of interest- how long have you owned it?
was the block heater an original OEM part or added later?
do you know if this was a US domestic market car?

Really neat looking ride, and what a great "starter" car for teenager. My first car was a 1983, 4 door VW rabbit diesel 5 speed; and man do I wish I still had it. I'm glad you are not closer to me I'd be coming to check it out.
GLWS!

For sure, Im right there with you....Im trying to look at it like, anything less than 5K and you start to get into a category of vehicle that needs some work. Less than 3500 and you are sort of in beater territory ....So we'll see how it goes
------
- I bought it back in September of 2024. Flew across Montana and drove it home 10+ hours lol was an awesome time. You can see the ownership journey here on mud.

- Block heater seems to be original. Story goes this was purchased in Canada back in the 80s and the original owner brought it over to Montana full time not long after

- It was a US / Canada marketed car. Its got a J vin and was made in Japan but intended for us here in US

Its a super fun car and I do enjoy driving in it everyday. Listening to the old diesel motor start up and chug along is very pleasing lol

That's a really cool car if I was not so far away would have had to take a look I would probably see about listing on bat

Totally, Im glad I got to scratch the old Toyota diesel itch but its time to pass it on to the next driver....Im pretty inexperienced with BAT but have been considering it because I've also got my little Kei Van up for sale...

I imagine someone locally will want to pick this up but we'll see how it goes. Worst case I'll just keep using it for my daily

I don't personally like any of the online auction sites myself not great experience at all but you just submit your car no cost you get a email if it's rejected or accepted if accepted you Pay 100 and it will get listed after talking with representative not hard to do properly worth submitting your cars and see what happens.

Interesting, yeah I guess I just need to do more research on BAT and really need to get a series of cleaner pictures if I go that route..... I'm in such a (sort of ) remote area in regards to shipping stuff I can't imagine its be practical for anyone outside of Montana / Idaho to get a vehicle shipped out of here.

I've had ZERO interest so far lol ... Meanwhile I am shopping around for my next set of wheels and finding that most rigs under $5k are in need of repair / not worth it....will let it ride for a little while and see how it

The car could be shipped for probably 1200 most area's nothing is selling right now and under 10k hard to find something not a s*** box if I was closer would have checked it out I was looking to move to Montana but cost is stupid expensive you could also try cars and bids hagarty or hemings auctions one is free to sell can't remember which but bat is where the big money people usually are probably best to hold it till economy is better I'm guessing unless you give it away nothing will sell it seems.

Yeah for sure, I hear that.

We'll see how it goes, was thinking worst case I make a deal with my mechanic and let him take it. It would be nice knowing its going to someone who would keep her alive
In my opinion its not so much the price-altgough I have no idea what its worth-but its just that its a small market for something like that. Its just going to take a while to sell. Buyers are around im sure, but it can take a while to find them.

Glad you where able to sell it seems like a great deal for the buyer
Yeah I think so, it just needed to be someone who understands its a 40 year old diesel and what to expect out of it..... Price was right..... He got some extra tires rims and a pile of parts ....Should hold its value for a while if he keeps it maintained

Thanks MUD world
