Use a self-leveling seam sealer - most use 3M Silkaflex in the US , you should have something similar available in The Land of Green...plenty of threads on MUD about rebuilding hard tops..

Thank you, we are certainly very familiar with water ingress issues over here!!!

End of another week, some good progress I believe.
Seats have been repaired and cleaned, I know the new leather looks a different colour, but its exactly the same pigment as already on it, just 30 years younger??
Painted the bezel, front bumper and steps the same colour as OEM back bumpers .
Havent touched the bib yet.

Thanks Guys,getting there .

Question,

My seat belts (Driver + Passenger) are pretty frayed and I am worried they will not pass the Road Worthy Test (NCT) here, probably can shave the edges to make look better, but, question is , can you buy OEM or other brown seat belts that match OEM colour ?
I have searched the normal options but cannot find OEM, plenty of second hand which look in worse condition that mine?
Are they available or is there a newer model that has the same belts?

Possible Option:
I am working in West Africa this week where we run a fleet of Toyota 2014 Hilux, pickup/UTE and much to my amazement I have just noticed that they have brown straps similar to the LX but cannot be sure they are the same colour, they look a little darker brown, cannot be sure until I take a sample back at the end of he week. Cannot believe I haven't noticed this before as I have been travelling in these vehicles for over two years and have never noticed that the belts/straps were brown. The seats and trim are grey leather but belts are brown? Guess you only notice when you are looking ???
I am going to bring a sample back with me in any case to compare? Will post a few pictures in the morning of the belts we have here.

Last month I found a foot (not sure of technical term ) for drivers seat inside rail out here which was missing on my 42, it wasn't an exact match , but did the job. There is a guy here that has a yard full of 76/79's etc that he is breaking and I found it there , see picture attached, it had to be welded as the bolt holes didn't match, but, it creates the exact pitch etc? The locals call the 76/79"s out there , Dog Faces for some reason ???

Need to clarify previous post where I said , "There is a guy here that has a yard full of 76/79's etc that he is breaking" ,they are J series, not 40"s in case anybody is getting excited that there is award full of 76/79 40\s series that are been scrapped out here???

You could possibly try a set of seat belts out of a 75 series which are brown. Not sure if they are the same brown or not. I will try and get a comparison pic from my LX and my sons 75 series for you.

The determining factor in seatbelt swaps is the angle from the retractor up to the first pivot. Not all are vertical. My BJ74 slants rearward by about 10*. This is important because it relates to the locking mechanism once under tension [sudden deceleration]. So, if the angle is the same then go for it. If it's different - probably don't.

Thanks Guys,
Reckon I must have had a few too many when I posted about webbing colour, in the cold light of day and sobriety , the belts on the Hilux look more grey/brown than brown, in fact, the guys over here swear that they were grey when new and have faded to this colour. In fact the back belts look grey like seats
I will check mine when I get back at the weekend, I need to get new ones in any case for the bench seats, might as well keep them all the same, might just buy webbing to match OEM as close as possible as my upholstery guy is certified for EU regulations tests etc.
Will certainly look at the 75 belt options before I do anything.

Top colour for 84 BJ42:
I know this has been covered many times before but I still can't find a definitive answer to what colour the top should be for an 84LX, I see T12 mentioned for top and bezel in threads, but as my 42 has the chrome/silver coloured bezel, which I believe is original as per brochures etc, would it still be T12 on top or just paint it 033 like the rest of the body or something else?
I am overseas at the moment and will have a closer look at the weekend, but the photo attached suggests that the top is the same colour as the body, 033?
Apologies in advance if its right there in front of me on this forum?

The body shop guys knew about the Cygnus White for the top but said it would look like a white shirt with a cream tie ???
They will wait until I get back at the weekend with some samples.

I don't know, it looks ok to me, just need to repair a few patches on the tub!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;);)

I think you might be looking for the 033 white. The data plate in the engine compartment should have the paint code.

Thanks Geoff, yes the plate does say 033, but I believe the top is a different white IE Cygnus T12 ?

Everything I read points to late model having 033 tops as well. Makes no sense to have the 012 roof with 033 body. Toyota would not keep two whites. I have a 033 fj40 and my plan is to paint roof and body same colour.

Thanks Geoff,
T12 looks good on bezel and top if body colour is red, blue, beige etc , just cannot see in on 033 body with chrome or silver bezel.
