1981 BJ42 Parts Rig (sold)

I have a 1981 TLC BJ42 parts truck that I am looking to sell. I recently imported the vehicle from Canada into the US with the intention of using the 3B to perform an engine swap in a late model 40 series cruiser.

I have all the appropriate paper work required to register the vehicle in the states, although the body is virtually useless as a result of cancerous rust. The frame too is beginning to show signs of failing integrity.

The value of this vehicle lies within the drivetrain; all stock, 3B, 4speed H42 transmission, stock rear diff, output shafts etc.

The 3B has approximately 135,000 Miles (220,000 km) on it, and is fantastic running condition. All electronic systems involved with mechanical function seem to be functional, including relays, glow plugs, starter EDIC and alternator.

In light of the fact that the frame is close to toast, the engine brackets/mounts appear to be functional and free of rust.

The entire vehicle appears to be bone stock. Although not indicated in the photos, it no longer has a windshield, top, doors, sides, as they I had to shed weight in Canada inorder to keep my loaner trailers' wheels from falling off...

The front axle is currently not installed, although is included in the sale.

BJ42 has several miscellaneous parts that appear to be in good condition, although I am looking to sell the vehicle as a package deal.

The only reason I am selling this rig is to make enough to buy another cruiser; I jumped the gun and bought a donor vehicle before I had a decent recipient.

I am asking $3000 for the rig, and I am located in Santa Barbara, CA...a heck of a lot closer than BC to you SoCal mudders.

If interested, please email austincappon@gmail.com

Thanks for looking.

Another project...

Thats too bad the body and frame are so rusty...
Alot of the aluminum in the pics look pitted also in the engine bay. Its incredible what mother nature can do. Worse comes to worse it looks pretty good in the garden. A monument to Toyota:hillbilly:

Good luck with the sale.

Much better than a gnome...

Thanks for the luck tlc 81; it is somewhat unfortunate about the body and frame. otherwise I would have a great rig, and no need to buy another. As far as the pitting goes, I have not attempted to treat any of the surfaces since I brought it home, and I am sure that it would clean up quite nicely. I fairly sure that there is some value in this vehicle aside from its inherent value as a lawn decoration ;p

Interesting fact lowenbrau...

I will have to look at the manufacture date again. The Canadian registration states it to be an 1981, although they also allowed me to register the vehicle to myself despite the fact I dont live in the country!...

There is a chance someone changed out the airbox to the 1982 version. I've done just that on my 1981 BJ42. The build date would confirm for you.
