Yep, and with all those "RE" squirrels under the hood you are gonna need that restraint. In actuality, it is the double low first gear that will most likely cost you a shaft before speed will. Front-end in a bind in double low and then you gas on it to pull it thru and you will hear that infamous grenade sound.

Side-bar, so when will the LOWE Toyota metal art sculptures be available for purchase. Have you added a part number to the catalog for each one? :grinpimp: That is pretty creative, I like the smaller one myself, can't figure out what the big one is supposed to be.

Hey at least they are fuel injected squirrels. And, yes it is def the low low gear that will break an axle if anything. The problem is just as you stated. I'll just have to try not to do anything stupid (which is basically impossible).

Anyways, I went ahead and picked up my new old tires. Got an OK deal on them. I pretty much paid what I think they are worth. And these must be decent tires because a lot of other people I know run them. They are BFG Mud Terrain 37x12.50x17. Two are around 25% tread and the others are probably 75%. I basically put no miles and only drive the truck a few times a year so they'll do the job just fine. :steer:

I'm not sure what the charge is for the sculptures. You'll have to consult the artist. He likes the smaller one as well and I'm pretty sure he's going to keep that one. He may sell you the other one though. Actually I think he may donate it to ACC for use at GSMTR if they want it...

I was thinking that it would make a cool raffle prize or something.

Yeah we might do that. He has since painted it... I'm not gonna post pictures though. You'll just have to wait and see.

I know a guy that can get you a replacement for the tailight you are missing.:p

Ha! Its in the back of the truck. It fell out when we went to GMP last time, remember? There are supposed to be studs pressed into the plastic but they're all broken. I might just epoxy that thing in or zip tie it or... ?

Oh yeah, I remember. It made me laugh when I saw the current pic that with all of the work you have done since the fall gathering that the tailight hasn't been fixed. I guess that is probably one of the things that will get done the night before GSMTR. But that is small fry compared to the work you have done.
I vote for zip ties.

It's pretty much at the bottom of the priority list...

Well the trans is done and transfer #1 is bolted up. Just gotta pull the 4 spd and get the transfer out so I can bolt it up to this monstrosity. I'll be updating the list later. Now its pretty much just assembly and finishing up some other details. The only thing left to order is the long spline for the front drive shaft.

Transmission and transfer #1 waiting to go to their new home.

Mounted up one of the 37s to check clearance... The 31 is just for comparison...

Looking pretty good. Gonna trim the front part of the fender a little more and bend it back so there's no sharp edge for the tire to catch.

The itch to get out and do something is growing steadily worse... Little over a month until the shakedown run. :steer::clap:

Ok that 37 makes the 31 look dinky! :)

Nice.

Just a reminder that you need to start the bottom two bolts on the adapter before you send the rear case home on the adapter, otherwise you WILL NOT be able to start them. Not sure what the plan is, but I would advise putting the rear case on while everything is out of the truck.

Yeah we are going to bolt it all together and then install. I was looking at the ridiculously small amount of room for the bolts/nuts and I remembered what you said. I was thinking at first, "How in the world are you supposed to get these nuts started and actually tighten them?"

On a serious note: Any thoughts on running an add a leaf on the Taco springs? The back is a couple of inches shorter than the front. I can do an add a leaf cheap but I'm afrain it would affect the flexing ability of the springs. I can add another leaf from one of the Tacoma packs but they are pretty flat already so I don't know if that will bring it up much. I wonder about the same problem with that as well. Is it going to be so stiff with the extra Taco leaf that it will affect the flex..? Hmm... I could just leave it but it looks stupid and I'd rather have more clearance in the rear.

It would cost a little more, but there used to be an Alcan (I think) 3 leaf Add on that you could get that gave a boost to height and didn't affect flex. Maybe demello or somebody like that. I will see if I can find a link.

And what's wrong with rolling Cali-style...

Nothing I guess. I need to figure it out before I buy shocks though.

It was Deaver..

And by the way, that thing is a beast!

Too much $$. I'm trying to keep it cheap. Also 9 leaf pack! I'm only running 3! So the options are either leave it, add a leaf, or add another Taco leaf from another pack.

And thanks. I'm just hoping that it does well when we hit the trails. :steer:

I'm trying to sell my one good (literally like new) 33x12.50x17 MT and my 2 worn 305/65/17s if anyone needs one or is looking for a spare.

So I put the truck up on the lift to get the rears mounted up, need to address hardware for the springs, put the trans in, etc...

Look at that droop!!! :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

The only thing stopping it from going further is the body mount on the frame. The shackle is actually hitting it right now. If I notched the mount it would probably drop another inch or so. That's crazy!!

Ok, this is a time when not being able to see pictures on my phone is a problem!!

Definitely going to have to log in once I get home..
