1979 speedometer components: My Dumb Question of the Day

As mentioned…dumb question

for all of my days with Landcruiser playing, I never had any need to dig into the speedo system. My belief is that the cable goes from the trans…to the back of the speedometer case. My current FJ45 has a new replacement speedometer case in the dash but I was to,d it needs a speed sensor.

‘’as I see it so far, the sensor look’s partially electronic… is that so? And then of course< what wire loom piece would feed this?

The stock setup uses a cable. There is nothing electronic about it. If you have a Dakota Digital dash setup it may need something like in your picture to sense speed.
