So, my buddy and I tossed around the idea of exporting LC's from Colombia a few years ago when we were deployed together in Iraq. Made sense since his dad is still living there. We decided against it. Now, it seems like a few out there are bring in 43 series and selling.

I ran across this lately and I'm thinking of buying. It looks to be in amazing shape. I know at times our brothers to the south get a little creative, especially with bondo. But, this one seems pretty darn straight. I'm even wondering if it has an H55 too... Says power steering and AC too. If those are oem, this would be hard to turn down. Thoughts?

Before anyone corrects me.... I know that FJ means petrol. I'm wondering if they swapped with a 70 series engine and transmission?

Thoughts?

Cool 55, are you thinking about bringing these to the US as keepers or to flip?

How much will you be into this rig by the time you get it home, not knowing how much it cost myself it seems like you could get money tied up into one of these when buying out of the country.

$28.000.000 Columbian Pesos is about $9,200 - which is a good deal for a '79 in good condition. Where would you be importing it to?

The 14b was introduced in 1994 - could be out of a Land Cruiser Bandeirante (Brazilian made Land Cruiser)

If this were an LV, I'd be 100 percent buying it. I've always liked pigs but never seriously considered. This would make such a great camping / light wheeling truck for my family of four. I read where 14bs were only really offered in Bandi's.

I've owned two non USA models over the years. I'm absolutely aware that the domestic trucks cited in the article tend to bring more money. I also know that the two diesel HJ47's, one being a lhd out of Panama, are valuable since never being offered at all in the US.

This article is spot on about people trying to import absolutely trashed non USA models with a little paint or cleaning. Then try to flip them for an unrealistic amount.

I just like this 55 due to the rarity of it. My heart is still with the older US stuff. Pre 71 forty-series with the undesirable bench seats, drum brakes, three on the column, round turn signals and parking lights, and heavier steel panels. ;)
