I have a 78 in my 55 (a 71), which from what im told is he same as the 76. So it should fit just fine. (just make sure your gearing is the same)

Hey guys...double checking before I purchase...I have a chance to get a 76 axle with factory disc brakes...please confirm this will bolt up to my 71 :D

Thanks!
Benjamin

Yes it will bolt right up, you'll need to remove the residual valve from the front brake circuit and either swap 1/2 your DS for the correct flange or swap the pinion flange ;)

Is the '76 axle from a Pig? Or from a 40?

If it is from Piggy, this will apply (except for the fine-spline pinion): https://forum.ih8mud.com/showpost.php?p=8372804&postcount=47

If from a 40, you should still have long birfs, but will have some kind of dealer installed lock-outs.
If from a Piggy and you have the long-body lock-outs with ASCO dial, those would be perfect on a Piggy!
