1976 FJ55 axle on a 1971 FJ55?

Hey guys...double checking before I purchase...I have a chance to get a 76 axle with factory disc brakes...please confirm this will bolt up to my 71

I have a 78 in my 55 (a 71), which from what im told is he same as the 76. So it should fit just fine. (just make sure your gearing is the same)

Yes it will bolt right up, you'll need to remove the residual valve from the front brake circuit and either swap 1/2 your DS for the correct flange or swap the pinion flange

Is the '76 axle from a Pig? Or from a 40?

If it is from Piggy, this will apply (except for the fine-spline pinion): https://forum.ih8mud.com/showpost.php?p=8372804&postcount=47

If from a 40, you should still have long birfs, but will have some kind of dealer installed lock-outs.
If from a Piggy and you have the long-body lock-outs with ASCO dial, those would be perfect on a Piggy!
