This is a solid rig to get in and drive. All this tearing apart and painting you guys do is crazy.

Turn key.

Drive.

Fix as needed.

Repeat.

I def agree, to a point.

I was mainly comparing what I got vs what I paid vs the price and condition of this truck.

That being said, if this truck had come up while I was looking I would have been all over it. And there are LOTS of days when I wish I could jump in mine and drive it...but oh well.

Somebody pick this one up and enjoy it.

They are fun to drive. I have always loved convertibles and now I like 4WD. This is the best of both worlds. I love the green. It has really grown on me. Why have you not pulled the trigger SHUSH?

im trying to find the thin line bn blind love and waiting until it slips through my fingers.

we are trying to decide if we want to go this route or step it up to $10-$12k and find a truly turn key rig. I agree with all the above if I dont move on it then fountain or someone should.

gonna rest my bones and sleep on this and decide tomorrow.

For the record, that is factory Armstrong steering. No assist or power from the factory till early 80s.
I really like this truck.

The GunRunner cost a whopping $1,500 and a u-haul trailer rental fee. I've put a little more than that in it over the last 10 years.

Fixed.

Good decision. For what you want to do with it a 12k truck is a better fit.

Looks like I'm headed to bed bath and beyond........I let Nathan know there was some interest on mud and that the pictures were up.

Only corrections I see to my recon are from Lash:
Armstrong steering = grunting and swinging wide into oncoming traffic with 35s
Mardis power steering = turning on a DIME with 2 fingers

Who is next in line?....fountain? Saint?

one of ya'll get it and go to the Gunrunner school of cheapo 40 owning or take it to the Jrob house of horrors where it can go under the knife and emerge a trail beast.....either way it's a GREAT rig, just not what we are looking for.

I didn't do a compression test or check plugs for fouling but the truck cranked right up and went smoothly through all gears. We only cruised neighborhoods but the power band seemed 10 fold to my truck, but Mardis discovered a massive leak in mine which gave him about 110 horsepower as opposed to the 50 it had when I owned it.

Oh Jesus! Somebody buy this!

Somebody buy this so the Odd Couple will STHU!

I cant wait to delete this thread... Boys bickering...on a for sale thread.. Lame

Just sayin

Will that truck bring $5K in Mississippi? I'm curious, because it probably wouldn't move at that price around here.

Throw an Earl Schieb on it and you got a $10K Egay Cruiser

For the sake of argument, I paid $1500 for mine in roughly the same shape, without the big boy tires and wheels....of course those were 2005 dollars.

Who the hell is bickering. It's all in fun. Geesh.

It seems like a solid priced truck.

I have to entertain.....isn't that my roll...along with Mike?

I think you have more 40s hit the market than MS. My truck was originally listed at 8 k IIRC.

Yeah I put it high to see what would happen, actually had 2 serious lookers, non toyota guys. I think my truck for Ms was worth every bit of $6k but I don't think this one is worth $5k. My truck had patine (until I painted it) but ran well mechanically (clutch, brakes, turned over, etc.) and had some good extras (Mike picked it up SLAM full of parts, soft top, extras)

Even for MS where they seem to be more rare it's a $3500 truck.

There's usually several on the market around here, in similar condition, in the $3-4K range. It's a crazy market for 40's.

typing with a 2 year old yapping is distracting....I'm MR Mom today.;)

Yeah my wife and I really want one, but she isn't willing for me to be in the garage for 3 months trying to get it running well, but hey if she is willing to up the $ I'm all about it.

We are in dream stage and will probably get real serious in the last few months of my deployment.

So I can't wait to get home and waste an hour of my life reading this bush league psych out thread. Until then keep livin the dream.
