I've thought about mounting the retracter on the rear seat bracket, but would use a nice backing plate, under the fender well and maybe a bigger bolt. Those are only 6mm bolts holding everything down. Seems to be a good place though.

On my '74, there is a backing plate in the fenderwell. What do you think about the fact that it is 4 x 6mm (I do not recall the bolt size, but sounds about right) holding that bracket down?

I hate to do it, but it's time to unload this beauty. I have had this almost 3 years and kept it the pristine almost all original, lowest mileage FJ 55 I have ever seen. Several people have told me it's the lowest mileage FJ 55 they know if in the states. It has brand new BFG 33 10.50's on original wheels. The interior is spotless and I have recently replaced the front seat with new SOR foam and matching vinyl. It has all the original toyota glass, and is the desired original paint smurf/white.

I am asking $25,000. Vehicle has been garage kept in East Texas since purchase. I will do my best to post pictures but may not have enough post to allow that. Please text me at 903-746-3834 for information or more photos. If there are specific pictures you want just ask, it in my garage and I'm happy to provide them.

I have added lights from daniel stern that match the original headlights. Massive upgrade for night driving and makes zero visual change to how the vehicle looks.

Ok, tried to post pictures and have no clue, so text me if you want to see

Thanks again for all the picture Brian.
Do you believe the headliner to be original? If it is the original headliner, then I am guessing those rear belts may be installed from the factory. Just trying to figure if they were added later on, or if that was how Toyota was doing things for a while. I had no such anchor points in the C pillar of my '74.

I do believe the headliner to be original. I had a pretty high end restoration guy do the seatbelt and they came from an older toyota pickup. I own a scrap metal business and have a few toyotas show up from time to time that we crush.

So you added the rear belts? Thank you for your time and 'splaining it to me!

Pablo,

That backing plate and the metal under it, is a spot prone to rust. I'm no engineer, but I wouldn't want to trust my families well being to just those 4 little bolts, that might be rusted out. Wouldn't hurt to beef it up before any problems.

Beats the hell of just lap belts.

I have to ask, do you find some pretty crazy stuff in the cars that go to the crusher? I have heard stories...

Pigpen,

It does beat just lap belts. I didn't mean it was a bad idea to mount them there, just check the metal in question before belting in one of the kids.

That said, I might go with that spot myself. I welded in an anchor spot on the C pillar, at the bottom, just for this, but not sure if I can use it.

Good luck with the sale, she is a beauty!

Can someone help me figure out how to move this to the FJ 55 Classifieds? For some reason when I go there it doesn't show up? Maybe it got moved to seatbelt discussion thread?

I'm too retarded and it took me like 5 hours to post a picture the first time. I was shocked it didn't end up with pictures of my dog licking himself.

"Dog Licks Self" fine art that would probably help sell the 55. I am happy to help - I can create thread for you if you like?

Two buddies are sitting around, drinking beer, and the one guy's dog is on the floor, licking his doggy nuts.

Guy turns to his friend and says "man, I wish I could that!"

Other guy says "oooooooooooo........he would bite you......"
