Hi there

Its great, really great, wish I had the skill to do something similar, I have always wanted to put the Toyota D4D v8 4.5 in a 40 but the very best quote I could get for a new engine was 15000 euros which sort of killed the idea for now

Down pipe painted with hi temp paint to help stop rust, wrapped and installed. Finished exhaust tubing setup. Tomorrow I will be building hangers and installing.

Excellent work! Are you planning to use a heat shield to prevent cooking the inside of your cruiser?

Once the mechanical side of the cruiser is completed, tested, and true I will be completely removing the body stripping every panel to bare steel and completing a full base coat / clear coat paint job which will include under coating applied to the floor (Inside and out) and the inner fender wells (Inside and out). Hinges will be stripped, powder coated and rebuilt. The fiberglass top will be lined with new fiberglass mat, body filled and painted white. All dash pieces will be powder coated to match (Silver), and the grill powder coated white. While the body is off I will be fabing up stainless steel heat shields to protect the tub from heat.

I hope to be starting the cruiser for the first time early next week. I'll be creating a youtube video of the event which I will share once completed. The video will also give a preview to some of the other systems I have setup on the cruiser.

Worked on the intake: 4" Stainless Mandrel bent intake ducting which I cut / rotated / tig welded back together and installed a K&N air cleaner. The intake ducting is hitting the alternator unfortunately. I need about a 1/2" to clear it which I should be able to get by removing the engine hoist bracket, and machining a 1/4" off of the engine mount surface side of the alt bracket. The alternative is a major alteration which is one I'd like to avoid if I can...

Wow. I love it. I originally wanted to put a 4B in mine but just didn't have the funds so I opted for a 292 chevy. I'm a longs ways from being done though. Really cool, nice work!

I would put a little dimple in the air intake duct to clear the alternator.
 
Almost looks like the alt bracket could be sectioned to move it over a bit - if it's cast steel it can be tig welded easily enough . Otherwise , what about a thicker spacer on the turbo ?

Unfortunately I ran out of room between my inner fender well and the turbo. I plan to remove the engine hoist bracket which will give me 3/16" and machine the mating surface of the alternator bracket that meets the head. I should be able to lose another 1/4" by machining the alt bracket and I should be golden..

That thought did cross my mind... I'm going to play around with the alternator a bit more before I dipple the intake but if I still need a hair when I'm done moving the alternator it may still need a little dipple to clear :(
 
This is what I started with regarding my turbo to alt clearance:
I made a shorter stay bracket which helped me gain some additonal clearance, and then added a 1" mainfold to turbo spacer which helped a bit more... I'm almost there :)
