1972 Fj40 what are these?

I have the tub off and have working on rust repair. There are these vertical brackets? On the b-pillar attached with 4 bolts and looks like a few spot welds. Does anyone know their purpose? Mine is a hardtop. In the photo it shows it with the 4 bolts removed. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the info. No but I have been meaning to start one. I’ve been taking lots of photos along the way but man, what a job.

One bite at a time- the build thread in my signature has alot of great pics and info from the gurus.

I hope you do one. I've finally done one and I find it nearly more difficult than doing the build itself. I'm not a techy sort of guy (haven't even got Facebook), so it's not natural to me to photograph and document my daily existence.

But I do see that it'll be nice to look back on one day and could be a great source of "how the hell did I do that?" answers in the future.

But from a purely selfish point of view, I like watching '72s be reborn.
