Executed the plan tonight :) Got home, welded up the crack, ground it back with the die grinder, turned up the presure on the blaster and smoothed it out.

Few pics of tonights action. Got that pan primed and painted, then moved onto the other stuff. Sprayed all the T case linkage and a few other parts. Probably over kill on the driveshafts, spraying them with DP90LF and MTK single stage ureathane, but what the hell. Driveshafts gotta be nice and shiny too right? ;)

Not sure what I'm going to do tomorrow night? I have to load up the booth with some house trim wood blocks that my wife stained tonight. Going to spray a couple coats of polyureathane on them for her tomorrow, but that shouldn't take more than an hour.

Mother in law should be here Friday........then the sewing begins......

Doesn't look like much, but needed to get my seats ready for my sewing team  They plan on being here tomorrow at noon, so I needed to be ready to go.

My auto body buddy had a 2003 wrecked VW that I robbed the bucket seats out of for the heating pads in them. I stripped those down tonight and got the pads out of them and got them glued into my foam. LV's gotta have heated seats right :grinpimp: Also going to get the roller switches still and mount them into my console so the wife can have 5 heat settings.

That took a while, the rest of the evening was getting the sewing equipment ready. I got all the material out, threaded 4 bobbins with the 2 colors of thread I bought, set up some tables, etc....

One question though. I know someone here said they got new seat foam for there 79+ seats. I also got new foam for the drivers side since it was pretty tore up. If you look in the pics you can see the really white seat foam, that is the new one from SOR. I got it last week, but just opened the box tonight. Notice how it is considerably taller than the OEM foam???? Is that right? Do you just stretch the covers over it that much? Some might say, just make your cover bigger, but what if you bought pre-made covers, what then? I also don't want them to look different, is the foam going to squeeze in there and look the same?

Don't get it?

One other thing on the seat foam.

Online order form SOR part # 310-82D as specified on the packing list also.

So it shows that it is right???

I'd bet that the OEM foam started out the same size or close to the SOR foam. You got it right in that you just cram the new stuff in the covers. Might need a ratchet strap to help compress the foam to make it all fit so you can hook the hog rings from the cover to the seat frame.

You might be right? The overall shape is the same, but it is a hell of a lot bigger? Well give'r a try I guess???

Order another seat bottom. It will look better and last longer.

I would agree with this one if you can get one in time. Gone all out so far, I would get the new foam as well.

Again great buildup makes me want to work on something :)

Happy new year everybody!!!!! I thought I would bring you up to speed on what I was doing when the clock struck midnight......it was sew, sew.....ok that was stupid...

Pics of yesterday evening and todays action. I can't say everything went as planned, it was far from it  I consider myself a fairly good manager and planner, I had everything in place, people, facility and the right equipment...so I thought...

Mother in law got up here around 3 ish on Friday. Wife and her got going on seam cutting the OEM seat covers, that went fine. Then they started cutting out patterns, that went good. And then they went to sew......not good, not good at all.

I will keep this short, because I could fill a couple pages on how the machine worked for them. But, after taking it apart several times trying to make it so it wasn't so touchy on the tredle, nothing was working. The machine was either not moving or literally wide open where it was pulling the material out of your hand. We couldn't get a decent stitch, totally uneven with no consistency. After literally pissing away damm near a Saturday I finally gave up.

Now the good news. During the time I bought this machine over a month ago I had a want ad in the local trader for a industrial machine. I actually got about a dozen calls, but I had already purchased this one so I didn't need anymore. I did however remember one of the guys names that called, so I got on the phone Saturday evening, about 6 pm New years eve. Got a hold of the guy, was getting ready to go out with his lady to dinner. Asked him if he still had the machine, he did, sweet. Told him my situation, told me to meet him at his house at 8 pm before he left.

Now this guy used to run an upholstery business. Got there and he had a used Pfaff, looked pretty decent. My mother in law came with me along with a few samples of our material. He gave us a quick lesson and the thing worked absolutely sweet!!! Complete control on the treddle, fast or as slow as you wanted. Wrote him a check for $250 and we were gone. On a side note, I told him my problem I was having with the singer. He said he used to have a singer and it was the same way. Extremely hard to control, he hated it. One good thing is that the guy who I bought the singer from said if it didn't work out, bring it back. It will be on his doorstep Monday morning.

So, Pfaff is unloaded at my place around 9pm. Hauled in, cleaned up and put to work. Pics say it all, 2 hours later................you be the judge, but I think for our first seat cover, we did pretty fricking awesome :) :) :) I don't what you guys expect for my first stab at upholstery?????

And guess who did all the sewing........you guessed it :grinpimp:
