Here I go again. Another 45 build. This one will get a 5.3 with 4L60E. I think I’m gonna try and sand and polish this patina. I really don’t want to paint another one...for now that is.

Very nice patina!!!

Any pics of it all together before it was started?

Looks great! Was wondering the same as above......did you sandblast and powder the frame and axles? I will be at that point soon so I'm in the process of absorbing info from others.

It was already blasted and coated with POR 15 when I got it. Same with the axles. I'll try and post some pictures of the bed and other parts tomorrow when there is some light out.

Wow, what a great project to start with. Did you find it locally or buy from a MUD brother?

Yes, and yes. I found it here on Mud from StuChing in Oxnard, CA. He had a good start to it, but lost interest along the way. So, I stepped in and I'm going to do my best to finish it up. It came with a 350, but then I did a compression test and it didn't test out very well....and since I did a 5.3 on my 40 I figured why not do that to this one. The body is in great shape so I figure why mess with the patina. I guess you could call this a restorat...part restomod, part rat rod.....lol.

Definitely Keep the patina, great 45 to build, can’t believe it was for sale for more than a day!

I agree....I had to keep asking him if it were still there all the while believing someone else would get it before I could!

A buddy of mine lent me his LS mick up block. Talk about a handy item!

I had an annoying hole to fill. I can’t figure out for the life of me why someone would put one there...smh

It's a Lincoln Power Mig 210. Nice unit that'll run on either 115V or 230V. I'll get a better picture once I grind down the stitch welds and make it look pretty.

Loooks like a nice head start with the cleaned up frame, axels and body panels in good shape.

Mock up block also looks really handy, I've been moving around and mocking up a 2F on a frame in my garage and could see the benefits of something lighter.
What's nice besides the weight of it is that you can bolt parts to it.

Looking great Craig. I can't wait to see it in person.... Hoping to come by for that 5 speed real soon.
Thanx Nick! It's ready for you and I'm sure you're anxious to get some progress on your build as well!
