Hello,

Do any of you know if it was factory to have the front bumper painted the same color as the rig?

I see a lot of trucks with silver bumpers, but it seems as though mine was originally the same color as the body. What is more Authentic?

Thanks!

Destin

You can still get a new front bumper from the dealer for ~150.

OK...while we're at it......Hood and windshield latches too??????

Good grief.....my turn signal housings, bumperettes, and latches are that cool silver/pewter color.......Now i'm perplexed......

Thanks for the pics....especially the one with the white 40......

Welcome to that sickness that only the purists understand

To be fair, that white 40 is a '61 model...notice the painted seat frames...they were silver/pewter on your '65.

wiper motors and licenceplate bracket also body color

BTW notice the hoods on the red and white rigs...hardtop no holddowns and bumpers and soft top has the holddowns and bumpers

Destin I would love to see your rig with an OD green canvas top :)

Plus you will notice it also had arm rest front and back. That was a 1961 model only. FJ25s had two arm rests both they were as tall as the back of the seat.

My 1968 (1967 production date) had body color latches for the hood and windshield. Turn signals were pewer color along with the bumperrettes. Seat covers were grey. It was still all original when I bought it in 1974. 1965 would had body color turn signals and bumperrrettes. Seat would of been red. I'm thinking these changed with the 68 model. 68 Toyota made a lot of changes in the FJ40s.
