Hello!

The beauty in the picture is my 1978 FJ40. It is missing some switches, and others look like they are not original. This FJ40 is pretty basic (Southamerican version, no fancy stuff, no heat, winch, power steering, etc.).

What is missing? Hopefully only rubber plugs? Thank you!

Buggy whip holder?

Buggy whip holder?

This was the early predecessor to our current Land Cruisers: The 1878 2HP Special Edition!
*You are missing the harnesses with reins that slide in through the dash for the 2 horses :grinpimp:

BTW... “Welcome to Mud”!

The big hole on the top would be a cigarette lighter. Not sure your market had hazard lights or not but a switch would be in there. No heater does away with blower/heater valve/outside air vent knobs. You have a vent knob below the radio to the left. Model with a heater after 74 did not have that operating vent.

This is what I have infered so far:

* Left side of the steering wheel - Light switch (which I need to buy, but is extremely difficult to find and expensive for 1978’s)

Right side of the steering wheel -

Top Row – Brake light + <unknown> (as the car has no seat belts), Choque, Whipers, Ciggarrete Lighter <missing>, Ribbet <a mistery, no idea>

Low Row – <All a mystery>, as this FJ40 does not have a heather. First one could be wipe wash, some of the others could be Hazard and or Throttle.

Under the radio – Center Ventilation Control Button / Fresh Air Hood vent pull knob (I imagine this was a vent for the engine, to open in hot weather, and close in cold --- orrrr it could be a vent for the cabin)

I will ask the folks that are fixing the FJ40 in South America to take a look-see, and try to figure out each button.

I thank you all for your help. This is my first interaction with the community, and it has been extremely helpful.
