Same rolling parts in drive train so I thought it appropriate tech.

No Bueno!

Dang dude. I hate to hear that man. Silver lining (maybe) it looked like you guys had some awesome camping spots and pretty good weather.

Interested in report when you get to crack it open.

Well, I think I pretty much bought the crappiest GX470 in existence the other day and figured you guys would want to poke fun at me about it. So, without further adieu, allow me to introduce BLM (Black Lexus Matters).

Can't find any evidence of a timing belt change.... Ever... So got one ordered along with a water pump and idler bearings. Bank 2 sensor 2 O2 sensor comes up on the check engine code so will replace that tomorrow. Just have to see where she takes me from there.

Congrats buddy!

Sheri will like that or Shannon?

We'll see about that, Clutchee. If it turns out okay and Sherry likes it we will keep it. If not, fleabay here we come. Shannon will most likely take the Corolla off to school next year. :(

Is cat failure common on this platform? I cleared the code several times and it comes back within a few minutes p0056. Sensor isn't bad and easy to swap so I'll start there.

P0056 is a heater circuit code if I remember correctly, not caused by a bad cat. Catalyst effeciency code=bad cat or sensor.

P0056 is a heated O2 sensor failure as you say and the most likely candidate. At just over $50 and easy to change its worth a shot as a first step. Not looking forward to that timing belt job though. It will be my first on a 2UZ.

Timing belt isn't too terrible. Do yourself a favor and throw the instructions that come with the kit in the trash. They will confuse you.
