Finished off the trip and headed down Avenue of the Giants.

Spent the morning with Andy Le. He and his son’s are incredibly hospitable. Andy taught me tons about the ABS pump. He installed his refurbished unit and we bleed the brakes in a few hours while our kids played.

At this point almost every major mechanical system in the truck has been addressed. I’m confident to say Fat Amy is ready to hit 500k/35year service life.

Rounding out a 4-day trip through Utah. Started in Bridgeport California.

Stayed at the Ruby Inn. The owner also bought this 60 new:

This area, while expensive, is great for fishing. We had breakfast at the Bridgeport Inn, explored the town a bit then set off through California and Nevada on remote highways.

Arrived to our first campsite at night. Setup wasn’t bad; I am happy I did some simple storage solutions before we left. Made a quick dinner and enjoyed the remainder of the evening.

Morning views did not disappoint. Spent some time riding bikes, hiking and catching beetles.

Left out around noon to make our way to the next spot in Dixie National Forest. Stopped for lunch right after getting in stuck.

The transition from Red rock to alpine forests is spectacular. We didn’t stop much for photos as we were racing the sun. We didn’t want to be setting up in the dark again. That said, the Slee res shocks are phenomenal. Zero fade after hours of high speed corrugations.

Found a spot next to a small stream in the valley just before sun down. Made a fire for the kids to keep warm and eat some sausages and s’mores.

I made a green curry with pork and the wife and I settled in for the light show with some rum.

We had originally planned to camp up on a ridge but decided not due to weather. It was 24* in the morning at 6k feet; I can’t imagine what it would have been at a higher elevation. Regardless, the morning view was good after sunrise spilled into the valley.

Quickly broke camp and made our way back to the red cliffs. First morning stop was a slot canyon. Played around in the dunes a bit on the way.

After that boondoggle, we headed out to the Zion scenic byway. I focused on video for bit of the trip. I’ll post up some stuff after I go through it.

We ended up snagging a hotel in the Virgin area for the last night. Kids were spent after the previous cold night and the days adventure. The next morning we headed out for a ride and some exploring.

Truck is up for sale. It’s got bottom end issues and needs a rebuild or new motor. Priced according.

At the end of the day I’ve got two wagons that serve the same purpose. I’d rather dedicate time and money putting a turbo in my 77.

Best of luck with the sale, you had some great adventures with that truck.

Thank you and yes, I can affirm that young kids prefer the ride of IFS and coils over solid axels and leafs.
