For those asking, here are wider shots for better size and location perspectives. It's a really low profile mount and very compact overall. I didn't want it to be some giant, gaudy eyesore. The first picture shows the L bracket mounted inboard but it can be reversed to further separate left/right mounted lights. There are two slots in the L bracket allowing even greater flexibility.

The bracket is shown in the 90-degree position but it can also be rotated variably down to 0 degrees to install your lights with an even lower profile or for optimal positioning of the light output. For size reference, the Baja Designs S2's are about 1.5" narrower and 1" shorter than those lights installed on my Gamiviti rack. With the hatch open, there is approximately 5 inches between the top of the L bracket and the rack, enough to accommodate any light pods.

Great idea, I dig it! If you had a way to incorporate it and still retain the diffuser I'd be ordering a set right now.

Have you had an antenna mounted to it yet? Any wobble? I'll be needing to mount a HAM ant very soon

Thanks! The mounts are more for people that have removed (or are fine with removing) the diffuser, or if it broke off and they're stuck with the ugly bolts showing. I haven't installed an antenna mount on it... when the hatch is opened an antenna would hit whatever is attached to the roof rack or factory rails. I didn't design the L bracket to accomodate an antenna. I might make an NMO antenna mount later on though.

Really like the idea of this project. Thanks for better pics. Have any of pods installed etc?

Thanks! I know this kit is like a niche of a niche, but hopefully the people that can use it will greatly appreciate it.

I didn't have time last weekend to install lights. I just grabbed a couple quick pics of the already installed mount. I'll try to find some time to take more pics this weekend though.

M10 slotted L-brackets have arrived! These are new options for the single or dual ditch light kits as well as the rear hatch light mount kit. If you plan on running Rigid, Baja Designs, KC, or any other pods that use M10 or 3/8" mounting bolts, choose this bracket option because these are what you'll need! M8 and M6 also available for smaller light mounting bolts.

All preorders with the M10 slot option ship today. Thank you very much for your patience and your support!

Do these brackets also work for the holes left by the later model rear spoiler (whale tail)?

No, sorry... these are only for the wind deflector-equipped models. I had plans to release a model for the whale-tail spoiler trucks but there seemed to be not as much interest (I'm guessing since they don't break off as easily or aren't removed as often as the wind deflectors).

Thanks for the speedy reply. Too bad! I'm thinking about removing my spoiler and didn't want to use plugs or some other hack to deal with the holes. If you ever start offering such a set, let me know.

Good ?,

I don’t have any extra roof rack besides the factory and if/when my rear spoiler (2nd one) grenades itself like the original one I’m planning on drilling a couple small holes and using some marine grade grommets to run the wiring into where the third brake light wiring is. Then down through the factory loom and such. Won’t be easy but it’ll do.

Heck might even be easier to run it down into the cab someplace else I’m not familiar with.

I just want the added reverse lighting, figured I could tap right into the reverse wiring and since LEDs are so low current it would be good to go!

Maybe a dumb question, but how do you run power to the pod lights?

I have an cell signal booster antenna on mine. The cable runs through the gap between the top of the hatch and the body. I run it down along the jamb and underneath the body and into one of the factory grommets that leads into the interior wheel well area.

You can also go into the factory harness grommet going into the body at the top of the hatch area.

What are you using as a gasket between the bracket and the rivnut inserts?

I meant to keep water out of the rivnut hole, my bad.

The factory "wind deflector" that South East Toyota installed has rubber gaskets on the underside and that seals each mount when they are installed.

I used clear silicone rtv to seal around the holes before installing the mounts. It's been a couple/few years and no leaks so far.

FWIW on my truck the wind deflector foot was broken and the rivnut was exposed to the elements for who knows how long before I took ownership and it was leak-free as far as I could tell.

10-4,
Thanks for letting me know.

My first one grenaded itself on the freeway one day, second one is holding but I guess I am seeking a reason to get rid of it. lol..

I hear those wind diffusers sell for a lot now since they're discontinued. There's a whole thread on it in the 100 forum.
