Sounds like aNOTHER trip to 49Cruisers.
So, what was it?
early production 06s definitely have an issue with the fuel pump overheating. Just FYI
I don't throw codes, but m y pump has put me on the side of the road twice in exactly those conditions. Add in that i had less than 1/4 tank.
Since then i just stay away from low fuel on hot days during long drives. No issues since.
Sounds exactly like the massive GM fuel pump issues. The pumps would burn up if the fuel got too low to properly cool it.I don't throw codes, but m y pump has put me on the side of the road twice in exactly those conditions. Add in that i had less than 1/4 tank.

were you able to let it sit and then restart after about 15-20 minutes later and drive fine?
the truck was sitting on about half of a tank yesterday, but chris drove it a lot harder than i did......and no issues....
Yes. 30 mins of cool down and it fires right up and runs great.
I've never had the issue around town. Only on long road trips. But what you are describing sounds like the pump to me. I don't think they are expensive or even that hard to change out (access through panel under 2nd row). I would change it out...
