Already went to pick that one up but left with an empty trailer. Really, really REALLY rough.
Awesome. It must've been R E A L L Y rough, because that would be one heck of a basher at that price.......

Shows how misleading photos can be.....doesn't look that bad in the ad.

Translation "Holy s***, if Bossman thinks it is junk..."

Exactly! I'm the Sanford and Son of Landcruisers!
HAHA! That's actually what I thought (but about me, not you!) I was trying to temper my enthusiasm, because I was thinking, "damn, at that price, I'll bet I could make something out of that........" when, in reality, it sounds like it was just dreaming......

The body had many small dings and dents, paint was covered in deep scratches, windshield was cracked, two of four windows did not work, sunroof had leaked for a long time and was taped shut, roof rack was mostly pulled out but hanging on my a screw or two, I interior was completely trashed torn and filthy, tires were crap, brakes were grinding, no power steering(at all -for a long time), starter(at best) was shot or flywheel (at worst) could have been missing many teeth, numerous oil leaks, drivelines or trans/transfer had a lot of slop, etc, etc, etc. Believe me... I could go on. Amazingly, though, the 2UZ was still running well with almost no blow-by despite the obvious abuse and lack of preventive care.

I'm considering possibly buying a rear bumper with a single swingout spare tire carrier, rather than converting the Slee bumper I already have, and I'm trying to make sure I consider what all is out there. Here are the ones I've looked at:
  • Slee: a strong consideration. Great quality, and a good looking setup. They only show a dual swingout on their website, so I'm wondering if they offer a single swingout anymore
  • Bump It Off Road: I had one of their high-clearance bumpers on that green 2000 hunnerd, and it's another quality piece. The operation of the tire carrier is really nice
  • ARB, sorry, just don't like 'em. In fact, I've never seen an ARB rear bumper I liked, until I saw Andrew's. Even though the design is similar, I like the way his looks
  • 4x4 Labs: I like them on an 80, but on a 100.....not so much
Any other worthy brands?

Bumpit offroad and the new guy who made andy's front bumper may come out with something new for the rear??

Slee can just cap the other swing out thingy. Sorry words escaped me

@dnp I will offer a little input

* Slee no longer sells the rear bumper in any form except complete. Bumper with two swing outs. Gotta get the full setup.

* BIOR is good stuff. Lots of satisfied folks with his gear and he's a nice guy. Met him at HiH.

* agree on ARB for the 100. Fugly.

* 4x4 Lab swing outs are awesome. The bumper, not so much.

If you are not in a big hurry check with @benc at Dissent. He built my front bumper and does great work. He said at HiH that his plans are to build a rear bumper that readily accepts the 4x4 lab swing outs. Could be very interesting and worth waiting on him to release it.

Hope this helps.

Slee with one swingout. He made a limited run of the center tire holders recently. I DETEST having two swingouts on mine. I would rather fold the center seats and crawl in to access the rear.

That said, I love the ladder.

If I was going to build it, I think it is strong enough to have both on one pivot.

Aww shucks, thanks David.

I am still on the hunt for a nice 100 if you come across one.

Of course I am not a fan in any means of a swingout. If someone had a collapsible spare like 911s that is what I would have and take the swing out away.

Let me honest....has anyone really popped a spare tire wheeling? Let me answer this yes.....but not the places we will be taking our 100s.

They look good though.

My first 100 I put a 33" spare under it and rocked the non swingout.

I promise you that if I drove this truck every day I would pull both of them off.
My BIOR swingouts were so easy / smooth to operate, I never gave them a second thought. It had the gas strut on both sides, and it just wasn't a big deal.

I like the way tire carriers and other swingouts look, they're functional (especially when incorporating a hi-lift behind them), and if they work well (they're not a hassle to open to get into the back), I prefer having at least a tire carrier, if not both.

Maybe that answers my question: based on prior experience, maybe BIOR is the only one worth considering
