@TRAIL TAILOR

J,

Sorry for the delay - it was dark last night when I arrived home.

Here are the approximate measurements along with a few photos. This is JUST the rear cross member opening (the oem receiver bolts into this opening and then the hitch slides into the receiver).

*although the tape measure doesn’t appear to line up in the photos it’s just the angle

Overall Tupperware bumper opening (not including tabs)

I’ve been following this thread for almost 2 years since it was started. Not sure if you realize that this thread was bumped almost a year since the last post.

I don’t think this is going to happen.

J,

Here’s the requested measurement:

3 1/16”

The plastic can easily be pulled from the crossmember to slide a plate against the frame. I’d guess that you could essentially fabricate a plate the height of the crossmember minus a few mm to get the plate in. Here’s a pic to show the space between plastic and frame.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe the 03-05 LX bolt pattern is not the same as the pintle mount pattern that is found on every other 100 series in the world.

What is the tow rating of the factory pintle hitch? Or is other equipment required? In theory a receiver tube mounted there should be able to handle towing just the same as a pintle hitch bolted to that cross member. I understand the legalities of not advertising it or rating it to do so as a business risk, but in theory it could work, correct? The added benefit is you also get the swing arm tire carrier.

Rating varies per model and year IIRC.

My center plate is 1/2" plate with Grade 10.9 bolts so IMO the rear crossmember is the weak link now.

I've had many interested in the dual swing arm with hitch option for the guys that don't have an aftermarket 2" hitch. Dual or triple can (removable). Triple holds a YETI 35 as well and comes with an E-Track ratchet strap.

Here you go.
