Dunno...are you gripping the c-clip towards the outer end of the tool (larger effective radius the farther out on the tool tips)?
OK... so I'm an idiot. I finally managed to get the clip on. My car is back on the road again! YAY!
Update:
I got my rotors replaced with the ATEs I bought from Tire Rack. The pads are the Hawk HPS I mentioned earlier. I have a strange clunk or thump which sounds like it is from the right front whenever I get on the brakes hard, like I did during the break-in procedure recommended by ATE. I am not happy with this at all. Monday morning I am going to call the dealer who installed them, and see if they can take a look. My suspicion is that they were either installed incorrectly or there is a defective part(s).
In the meantime, Jim, I would like to know where you got your slotted Brembo discs, and if they fit stock 16" wheels and brake calipers. If I have to return defective ATEs, I would like to get some Brembo discs instead.
