Very nice build BD,cool to see it being used.Looks some some sort of powerline trail?
My sister lives in Tx.and my nephew goes to Tx.state.He is your age&would be stoked on seeing this build. He has been on the Rubicon trail with me a few times and would love to get his hands on a 40.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the compliment! The park is Bridgeport ohv which is a city owned park. Was alright but on the small side, but its local so i can't complain one bit.

Depending how long it takes me to get some money saved I'm shooting to make it to the rubicon summer of 2012 or 2013.

Nice to have goals,Rubicon will be worth it! Just make sure you get your lockers!!
I am not near a map at this second, but where is Denton from say Georgetown or Austin area.We were there last Thanksgiving and had a fun time with the family.I should have looked up some cruiser folks,so we could have gone wheeling!

Denton is about 40 minutes north of Dallas on 35. Lockers are on the list but I want arbs, so it will take a long while before I get them.

Drove it to class today and had to get pictures next to my professors cruiser.

Awesome! I'm jealous of both you!

BDS

How do you like those headlights with the built-in LED blinkers?

Are they built well?

I read that the housing is plastic, which sounds a little chintzy.

complete POS. first one cracked on install (partially my fault), second one cracked randomly. only reason i had kept them was to pass inspection but decided to register it as an antique to get around that, will be going back with my stock heads or getting the nicer set later on.

Thanks, I appreicate the compliments.

I took it to Texicans shop tuesday afternoon to get it tuned, so far he has found a few causes to why it's not running right, but it was things my dad and I suspected and just didn't have a chance to check before i moved. Butch recommended a Trac bar while i was there so he is going to do that for me as well while he has it.

Checked out his 40 as well, was very impressed and gave me a few ideas on what i want to do next. He also found a few things that i had been questioning since i bought it. We think it has lift springs, which i will want to get rid of eventually and the C&T was either done poorly or not at all. The only reason i still think it has been done is the lower shock mount is not stock.

Got it back from Butch a little over a week ago, runs much better and a decent power increase. He did awesome work, i highly recommend him to anybody who needs some work done.

Taken it on the interstate a few times now for short 5 mile trips, holds 60 mph on the speedo perfectly. Estimate it more in the 70-75 mph range. tracks perfectly and only need 1 finger on the steering wheel.
Tore down my winch (warn 5687) last weekend, can't believe how simple these things are. Need to order some parts this week depending on how my bank account is looking.

Next set of plans are getting the MT heavy duty sliders, stinger, nose guard and a front bumper fabbed up over the holidays.

Your 40 Is bad ass!!! Are the leaf springs on yours stock or aftermarket? I like the way it sits and flex's are they turned 180 as well

Thanks! the leaf springs i am starting to think are stock, but not 100% sure. front leafs are in stock direction, rears are flipped.

Not to be a copy cat! But your is the closest as to what I'm going with mine. But what size tires are you running?

1974 fj40,4' man a fre lift,4+ winch bumper,

Thing looks amazing!!!! Nice work!

Ordered an Orion this morning, saved over $300 with their sale thats going on right now and went ahead and got a aussie locker as well. Both will get installed over december and hopefully get to try them out on a trail run in january.

Figured i'd bump this with some updates.

Got a bumper fabbed up from a local shop

Broke my steering arm off the knuckle at hidden falls last weekend. Have the parts to fix it but not the time so it will be a while before it gets done
